Chasing the Infinite Sky

There is something very grounding about looking up. As we go through our hectic, computer-filled lives, sometimes we fail to stop for a moment and see what is happening overhead in the sky, the ever-changing drama of clouds and sunlight.

These pictures perfectly embody this idea of nature in the grand scale that contrasts with our man-made surroundings.

The rising lamp post towards the blue vastness gives an impression of a quiet guardian, a man-made anchor, measuring the magnitude of the horizon. This little man-made object stands next to the deep, rich green color of the pine tree, a striking combination of the industrial and organic.

Whenever I see those pictures, my eye is attracted by the sky – huge, fluffy cumulus clouds that appear to be stacked up above the jagged mountain range in the background.

Those clouds show me that, regardless of how dry or harsh the landscape might be, the sky never stops doing its best to create beauty, softness and life.

It can be the sharp, calm outline of the pine tree against the mountains or the sunlight playing around the contours of the clouds; there is always a feeling of serene stillness here.
