Vintage Bessie Slothicorn - graphite/photoshop - Entry #3 for Slothicorn Contest
I wasn't planning on doing a 3rd slothicorn entry for @stellabelle's contest....but here we are.
Unfortunately I ran out of time to really put in the work I wanted to on this one (I wanted to shade the frame some more and bring out the contrast even more); but I'm actually still pretty happy with how it came out.
I would like to introduce you to Bessie Slothicorn. She loves needlework and reading - because quite frankly there isn't much else to do. This photo was taken on her 16th birthday. It was found years latter in an attic.

Oh my! I wasn't prepared for this... This is completely, utterly...
MAJESTIC!
The old paper texture is a nice fluorish. The colors on the rose.. gorgeous! The leaf framing was done so well, I liked how you did both with differnt shadowing instead of just mirroring it. These kinds of little details really do elevate the piece. And Bessie.. sweet, sweet Bessie. The expression on her face really exudes a level of regality that sloths or slothicorns aren't usually associated with.

thanks! I originally wanted to make it even more regal but I quickly realized that I didn't have the time for what I really wanted to do, so on limited time I'm pretty happy with how it came out. As others have said it looks like it would make a good tattoo...or maybe drop the "good" part. I wanted to get all 3 of my entries in to increase my changes of winning the contest, I could really use the crypto kit that the winner gets, so who knows!
Crypto kit? Sounds interesting! Now that I think about it, I think it does make a good tatoo! Must be the flower haha You were pressed for time with this? Imagine if you had days to work on it! Man, I really hope you run away with the grand prize for this. Your art really deserves more eyes!
well stella already said the second one I did was her favorite, so if she was the one choosing I would have won it, but instead stella is posting the top 30 and then people will vote on the best one - I don't think I'll win because I'm sure many other people have a much larger "fan base" to vote for them, but it's all good; I'm still glad I got to create Commander Elmer in the process!
