Genesis of Cryptoart

in #slothicorn8 years ago

With the recent boom in the block chain and cryptocurrency worlds and it's unlimited uses, little makes me wonder how technology and art can come together to form a pure and homogeneous mixture.
Cryptoart is a literal combination of art technology and money all encapsuled in an art representation having an intrinsic monetary value. Cryptoarts is the ability of making a cryptocurrency representation in the form of a beautiful painting having an added advantage of bearing the cryptowallets and it's cryptocurrency value. It was originally established in 2013 by Troy Fearnow and was officially launched by March 2014.

Troy's idea was bridging the gap between his passion for art and his interest in Bitcoin.
Cryptoart is a project that serves this purpose of bringing Bitcoin beyond its traditional social circles by creating art pieces itself to serve as a store of currencies.

Cryptoart mystery

These paintings hold the bitcoin through a QR code with the private key under a security sticker on the back. This QR code private key could be changed without damaging it. The imagery is used to attract people into the bitcoinspace and could be given out as gift to family, friends and loved ones. The art has further metamorphosed bearing the following features

  1. Digital native. The advent of this cryptoart has made art work to be created, bought and sold digitally
  2. Anonymity: It makes provision for artists to make and sell artwork without disclosing their personalities.
  3. Decentralized : Tools and guidelines are put in place to reduce the strength of middlemen and increase the volition of artists.
  4. Self-referential: It plays around events, luminaries that revolve around the blockchain culture.
Art is beauty. If ordinarybeauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, how much more beauty with some monetary value? I would call that priceless.
