Smartsteem applicants beware: we report to steemcleaners

If you have followed me for a while you know I am a real fan of the @smartsteem concept and especially of the @smartmarket.
I have been working with @therealwolf for a while now moderating the discord and helping out where I can.
A part of this is to check applications for the Whitelisting on the Smartsteem Platform.
This entails that when you are accepted you will be able to use a bigger pool of votes to buy from. People generally do not mind selling their voting power to make a bit of extra income. But if you are like me you do not like selling to spammers and plagiarists.

Through a whitelisting process we filter out people that blatantly copy pictures and movies from the web to post here on steem and make money through basically abusing the system.
I personally like the example that @themarkymark is setting and that this whole process in my eyes really is improving the steemit blockchain and the community. There are loads of upvoting services and I for one want to use one that at least acts responsibly with the power that it has

We aim to thoroughly check all applicants and we all do this manually, we look at your posts, look at your wallets, at posting pattern and of course check what you write and post. If you have not stolen someone elses intellectual property then you will be allowed on smartsteem.
I have been approached a lot on the discord chat of smartsteem with people asking how long it will take to get approved even on DM asking if there was anything that could be done to speed up the process.
We are working on this every day and there are a lot off applications to go through. We do want to do this thoroughly and not just half-assed so we ask for your patience. We will get to you in due time and together we will grow this amazing platform

If through your travels on our amazing blockchain you find some posts that are obvious copies then please use the link above to report them and hopefully dissuade the abuse.

Hi there, thanks for the update and a quick question: Does this rule only apply to whitelisted smartsteem users who buy upvotes for un-original content, or also to whitelisted smartsteem users who occasionally post un-original content on their feed, without buying an upvote from smartsteem?
For instance, I am a whitelisted smartsteem user who only posts original quality content on steem, but today I discovered this hilarious YouTube video of Jamie Oliver about cryptocurrencies that I thought of posting on my steemit blog. Now I know many people on steemit don't value cross-posting, so I decided not to share the video in my steemit blog, but instead use WildSpark to share the video on my Facebook and Twitter, just to be sure I do not get reported or flagged. So effectively I have drawn attention away from steemit to Facebook and Twitter today, and usually I would like to do it the other way round, but that's a result of the "no-crossposting" mentality here. Not sure if that's what we want as a community. What's your viewpoint on this?
well I would assume that you would put a little bit of text with it at least to explain why you are posting and you would not just dump a youtube link on steemit?
I have seen the video in question (its funny indeed) and we are not against reposting things but they have to be done in context. They have also to be sourced, just letting the people know where you got this from goes a long way.
good question though. There will always be a grey zone and we are doing a balancing act here as well but in my opinion there is a visible difference between people just reposting random stuff without sourcing and someone that reposts something with sourcing and in context

For some reason, I can not enter https://smartsteem.com through the stiмkonnekt. I am told that the password or key is invalid. But this can not be, I'm free to enter all other applications!
When I was applying there are already 30+ pages of pending list. But I'm whitelisted whitin two days(which im really grateful for). In no way I can imagine how much of effort you guys has been putting in just for the screening. Kudos!
We haven't checked our application to be whitelisted for a while now. Hopefully, we'll get accepted soon, if we haven't already. We are only posting original content and on the rare occasion there are some photos that are sourced elsewhere, but we reference it. Thanks for giving the warning post to those plagiarism opportunists!
