So much fitness bullcrap on social media
The life of an influencer must be a strange one. I know a couple of people that have medium sized audiences on their various socials and they have informed me that most of what they put up there is just completely made up garbage. Not that long ago I wrote a post about no matter what you are doing, social media is going to tell you that you are doing it wrong and I truly believe that is the case.
I think the men that have semi-popular channels are the most annoying because I have seen some really stupid information out there some of which were the following.
- don't drink too much water
- Don't do "too much" cardio
- do cardio only on an empty stomach
- crossfit is a waste of time
- you are a loser if you aren't always aiming for progressive overload
That's just a few that I can remember off the top of my head.
There are a couple of people out there that try to play the "good guy" card and unfortunately, I don't think they get as much traction as the straight up liars.

I wish I could find the channel again but I was so annoyed by one particular meathead that I just hit the button that tells IG to not show this person or content like it anymore but this guy had a very long laundry list of what it takes to get gains and he was just such an ass about it. He was in the pictures all shredded as fuck with veins popping out all over the place and he had all these things that you have to do in order to have a physique like him but he left out a very important part of the program that most of these guys never tell anyone.
Most of these people are on a load of PED's including HGH, TRT, and steroids. They will tell you the importance of protein and other supplements that they conveniently happen to have referral links to purchase. One of the most famous assholes that had this approach was the "Liver King" who swore up and down that he was "natty" until one day an email receipt leaked online showing that the dude was on something crazy like $10,000 a month of illegal PED's.
You can't trust any of these people. Well, you can trust some of them.

Noel Deyzel is absolutely jacked. He talks about a lot of things including nutrition but one thing that he does that many of the other people with an audience do not do is that he admits to steroid use. He also will not reveal to anyone what kind or how many he is on and he rarely even talks about it. He has, however, been very honest about it.
To me, I kind of look at these socials just so I can see what sort of absurd claims people are making while at the same time lying through their teeth about being natural. You simply cannot get to be like these men without PED use no matter how much work you put in and how dedicated you are to diet.
I was involved in bodybuilding for around 20 years and while I am glad that I did it, things have become a lot more dangerous today. In my time very few people had access to PED's but nowadays it is extremely easy to get your hands on them. I think in about 20 years we are going to have a ton of people that realize all too late that getting involved in that junk was a really bad idea that has very lasting negative effects on them that will trouble them for the rest of their lives.
Mark my words: the popular influencers of the next gen are going to be "regret influencers" that are broken in body specifically because of their PED use.
I don't think that physical fitness is, or should be, all that complicated. If you need to lose weight burn more than you eat, if you want to gain muscle eat a bunch of protein and lift weights with a system dedicated to achieving heavier lifts over time. If you are working on cardio endurance just do more cardio and always strive to be doing a bit more.
Above all else though, I think the number one aspect of fitness that needs to be paid attention to is longevity. This is a marathon not a sprint and small gradual changes over time are lifestyle changes that you are far more likely to stick to than any sort of fad or drug that produces very fast results.
In the meantime Instagram and other such things are just absolutely filled with people that are selling lies. I take the advice of the guy in the first image about "ignore the bullshit." The people trying to make money influencing have to constantly come up with new things to say and sell and most of what they are saying is straight up lies.
