A tiny ear game I keep coming back to
I didn’t expect to get hooked on a browser game about tones, but here we are.
The idea is simple: you listen to a short tone, then try to recreate what you heard by moving a slider. It’s not “music theory” heavy and it doesn’t demand a long session. It’s closer to that feeling of trying to remember a pitch you just heard and being surprised by how slippery your memory is.
What I like most is how fast it is. You can do a run while a kettle is boiling, or between tasks, and still get a clear “did I improve?” signal. Some days you feel locked in; other days your guesses are wildly off and you realize your speakers or your environment are doing you no favors.
A couple tips that made it more enjoyable for me:
Use headphones if you have them (phone speakers can be weird with higher tones).
Keep volume comfortable. If it feels sharp, just stop.
Don’t overthink the number—focus on relative pitch, then fine‑tune.
If you’re curious, I’ve been playing it here (takes under a minute to understand):
