Amazing Jupiter images! But getting there, beyond? 'THE LONG MORROW' explores the ever-present aspirations and limitations S5Ep11
Would you commit to a one-way trip to colonize Mars??
Or leave loved one's behind to age and die if you do not?
But there is a twist .........of course! (original Air Date January 10 1964)
More recently, NASA’s Juno spacecraft (Oct 2017) captured new images of the surface and southern hemisphere of Jupiter. This is not the first craft sent to Jupiter and we all know about the countless probes and rovers to Mars which is our direct neighbor. It seems like really close to colonizing Mars with the Mars One project and SpaceX (https://www.mars-one.com www.spacex.com) and even sign up list for people who want to be considered to go and live out their years on Mars or die trying.& nbsp;
Mankind has always been curious about space exploration but even today more than a half century after this Twilight Zone episode was created this is still a perilous pursuit, even to visit the next planet over. According to space.com, conservative estimates say it would take about 1 year to get to Mars and 2 years (one way) to Jupiter. Even round trip this isn't a long time for humans yet there has not been any human exploration to those planets.

Back to TZ; In this episode - a man - a mission - a love story - the great unknown - miscommunication
As Rod Serling stated in the opening monologue "Science has solved the mechanical details and now it's up to one human being to breathe life into blueprints and computers."

It sure is beautiful out there though. Isn't it? :D

[Juno performed its ninth close flyby of Jupiter. At the time the image was taken, the spacecraft was 20,577 miles (33,115 kilometers) from the tops of the clouds of the planet at a latitude of minus 52.96 degrees. The spatial scale in this image is 13.86 miles/pixel (22.3 kilometers/pixel). Citizen scientists Gerald Eichstädt and Seán Doran processed this image using data from the JunoCam imager and are color enhanced.]
