Macaca arctoides
Son primates de talla mediana con cuerpos y extremidades fuertes. El hocico es más o menos alargado. Su color es generalmente café claro amarillento, más obscuro en el lomo que en la región ventral (Nowak 1999). Los macacos cola de muñón tienen caras rojas o rosadas brillantes que se vuelven más obscuras conforme van envejeciendo y se exponen al sol, hasta alcanzar un color café o casi negro. Están cubiertos de un pelaje largo e hirsuto, aunque sus colas y caras están libres de pelo y van volviéndose calvos con el tiempo. Las crías nacen de color blanco y van obscureciéndose conforme van creciendo. Como el resto de los macacos, tienen abazones en las mejillas para almacenar comida por cortos períodos de tiempo (Cawthon 2005).
