Lanudo perro ovejero francés de antiguo linaje, sirvió a su país con coraje en la Primera Guerra Mundial como perro de la Cruz Roja y como cargador de municiones. Perro de talla grande, al igual que todas las razas de perros pastores, prefiere espacios suficientemente grandes para hacer ejercicio. El pelo puede ser de cualquier color, con excepción de blanco y el cepillado diario lo mantendrá en excelentes condiciones.
El Briard es un perro inteligente y leal a su familia pero es preferible llevarlo a casa siendo cachorro cuando hay niños pequeños. Espere que este perro protector lo alerte de cualquier cosa inusual que suceda.
