Rufous Net-Catching Spider

in #spiders9 years ago

Rufous net-casting spider (Deinopis Subrufa) is a secies of net-casting spider, it lives in eastern Australia and Tasmania. It's a notural hunter with excellent eyesight. It hunts using a sliken net to capture it's pray which consists of ants, beatles, crickets and other spiders. They come in a variety of colours from fawn to pinkish brown or chocolate brown. They are harmless to humans. To me it reminded me of a face-hugger from Alien. Such a strange spider to see move and while still it usually appears to only have four legs. Hope you enjoy.
