The “New Age” self help movement that became popular in the 1980s, probably grew out of the 1970s. It was always a joke to your humble vagabond. Maybe perceiving it as a joke was some kind of “privilege.” That privilege would be a cohesive, yet turbulent family life. The “broken home.” A tight, yet violent neighborhood, full of gang activity, shot friends, jailed friends, dead friends. And a vastly diverse scholastic experience. In short, maybe the “privilege” of which I facetiously speak was an experience and understanding of the “reality” that exists on this plane.
The brothers that came back fucked up from Vietnam, would always be sayin’ “it is what it is.” They never talked about it. Unless that’s what they were talkin’ about when they were standing on the corners shouting at passing vehicles or mumbling to themselves. Some of them were probably strung out, but I didn’t know it at the time. They were significantly elder to your boy, and quite frankly, I wasn’t paying much attention. Vietnam was a game we played on the vacant lot up the block were they torn down a storage warehouse. My escape from the harsh realisms of the hood, was watching cartoons, drawing cartoons and doing my homework during the commercials.
I wasn’t exactly scared to death of being outside, Bugs Bunny was just more interesting.
Without going onto the unauthorized autobiography, coming soon to an e-store near you, today’s assessment of yester-age is that, I was steeped in reality. Like it or not, it was real. It made us impenetrable and indestructible. I don’t know about any of my “hoodlings,” but I never found myself questioning my existence on Earth to the point of needing any kind of professional therapy. Watching TV and drawing, later baseball, basketball, reading comic books and sci-fi, and drawing and writing, was therapy enough.
Disclaimer. Whatever you’re feeling now, have gone through, whatever. That’s you. This is not a dis, or comparison. If you got jammed up in therapy that turned cultish. That was your experience. This vessel has never been there. I don’t really know why. But maybe it was because of what we’ve already gone over.
Mom tried to take us to Sunday school. It didn’t take. Not for yours truly anyway. Just didn’t have that spirit. Or maybe I had too much. Never felt comfortable. I even ditched religion in the military. “No Rel Pref” stamped into my dog-tags. That and my blood type are as indelibly stamped into my memory as they were into the stainless steel I wore around my neck.
The latest wave of mass awakening from from the last mass awakening is happening now and the “healing industrial complex” is expressing concern about a disruption in their industry. Read, they are worried about their lucrative income streams. With all of the “gurus” being exposed, some of them showing up in the “Epstein Files,” practitioners, many of whom had built their own reputations on associations with “globally renown” gurus & healers, are taking to various forms of media to do their, “save my business” dance.
This is the Matter Trap.
Despite all of the spirituality mumbo-jumbo these cats talk about, they are still trapped in this world where matter, “matters.” They just can’t help it. They can’t help bragging, though “not bragging” about the blessings they have manifested, or their wealthy clients. One “healer” I monitored for a long while, would talk about the wealth of his clients, as if he somehow “disapproved.” This guy also talked about making a profit on a mobile home he had purchased. While at the same time being critical of others in his industry being, “fake,” “greedy,” and motivated by less than high spiritual ambitions.
When the pressure is on, the facade breaks down.
So what’s this rant about, anyway?
“My spiritual journey,” began in 1982 when Death came for yours truly. But I didn’t know it. At the time, I didn’t know it was Death approaching. Nor did I know it was the start of anything. All I knew was, I was going to complete my tour, fulfill my obligation, and get the hell outta there and never look back.
Here’s the fast-forward. What “we,” (The Trinity) decided, is our best strategy is to straddle the two realms. The solid-esque, material realm, and the ethereal spirit world where our material senses are basically useless. This doesn’t free us completely from the Matter Trap, however knowing that it’s a trap, makes it feel like less of a trap, and makes Mind feel less trapped. It also helps us to discern where the actual “talent” is within the “community”. Who is fulla-shit. Who is on the path and open to seeking, absorbing & interpreting information. Who is performing. Who is marketing and who is falling for the pretty words and speculative “science.”
This is an example of a bone thrown into the circle. 360 impressions of the content. 360 opinions borne of their own experiences, motivations and options. There will be at least 30 pups that have no clue what’s going on. You’re not there yet. But we love you nonetheless.
Today’s episode is about walking away. “Know when to walk away. Know when to run.” I have always walked away erect and dignified. Haven’t left many hangin’, and when I did, they had it comin’.
