Expand Your Awareness (with Shae Mathews) | Focus + Openness Technique | Infinite Man - Spirituality

Today's advice comes from our good friend and TNL coach Shae Matthews - inner game master!

This is just a short exercise he took us through at the start of his speech at last year's Infinite Man Summit

"It's called expanded awareness and it's a way to drop into a different kind of focus. A very useful kind of focus."

First put your two pointer fingers together. They should be touching each other out in front of you. Then move them up to about 45 degrees above the normal line of your vision. Now hold your vision at that point where your two fingers are now. As you hold that point start to bring your arms out to the sides of your body.

Relax the arms but put your awareness out into the periphery so you're aware of the one point up here in front of you as well as the sides of your peripheral vision. Now you've got an expanded, open vision at your fingers and the focused point in front of you.

Now imagine that you have eyes in the back of your head and imagine that those eyes are able to see behind you in a 360 degree kind of vision. You have a feeling and a sense of what it would be like to see all around you.

It sounds a bit weird but as you relax into that you can expand the feeling of your awareness.

Now as you stay open to this way of looking at the world you can bring your focus back to your main objective but also stay open to the whole of the experience.

I suggest that you use this on a regular basis as well because it's a way to come out of your head. It's a way for you to be more curious about the world and to receive information.

Once again, another little bit of a martial arts technique, a little bit of a shamanic technique, a number of different traditions use similar techniques to open your up your perception.

This puts you into an alpha state and makes you receptive to learning. It's very good if you've got ADD or a short attention span.

Of course, the best way to learn something like this is from the source himself so click the video and see for yourself!
