Baby Steps Into The Unknowns Of Splinterlands
It has been almost 2 weeks since I started playing splinterlands and I already have so much to share. Come join me as I narrate my on-going journey into the unknowns of Splinterlands.
It all started with a random video on YouTube that I was watching to pass time. The video made a reference to crypto currency which I didn’t understand. So I decided to look it up and the next video I watched was on “What Is Crypto Currency”. It was an easy to understand 5 minute video but it made me more curious. So I decided to learn more about it on Google. And that’s where I read these golden words- PLAY, LEARN AND EARN
I had no idea that there were games based on crypto currencies and that I could make money playing. Now I regret wasting my time on games like CSGO, DOTA 2, Clash Royale, Legends of Runeterra and many more. Anyways, I started searching for crypto games. And the only game that caught my attention was Splinterlands. It was in the top 10s in every list I found on Google. And a game based on strategy and cards? Bring it on!
I opened up the game and without reading anything just clicked on the practice match button. Well, don’t judge me but I was very excited on earning some money lol. So anyways, random cards started staring at me and I was staring right back at them. I clicked on a bunch of strong looking cards and pressed Battle. Unsurprisingly, I lost, which made me read the rules and only the rules lol. I ended up losing my second practice match because of abilities I didn’t know about. So I finally sucked it up and read everything. The various abilities got me really excited and different strategies already started forming in my mind. But I still lost my third match hahaha. My hurry to learn and earn made me skip crucial details like- ranged monsters cannot attack from position 1. Finally I calmed myself down, read everything, replayed my battles again and again till I understood what exactly was happening and very soon I was battle ready. I jumped straight to ranked matches and started winning. But there was one thing that bugged me -- I wasn’t earning anything. So I joined discord to ask what was I doing wrong. And that’s when my gaming experience reached new heights.
I can’t begin to describe how awesome the Splinterlands community is. @clove71 provided me the spellbook and some cards that proved really helpful. And so many others helped too by giving me cards and delegating. I kept bothering everyone with my stupid questions, but everyone kept answering very patiently. I had no idea back then that spellbook was a one-time purchase and because of that I asked @clove71 for some work through which I could earn some DEC and she gladly helped. I also got offers from others to play their alt accounts. As it turns out, every single thing gave me a lot of experience in a very short span.
I kept participating in all the giveaways along the way too. And let me emphasize on this, there are so many giveaways every day!! Taking part in them every day by liking, reblogging and commenting left me with no HP. Back then I had no idea what that was. So I asked about it on discord. I got delegated some HP and I was told that posting on HIVE blog could earn me some HP. And that’s when a whole new avenue opened up for me. I started posting things I learnt from Splinterlands so that new players after me could benefit.
I didn’t even realise how 9 days went by. I had already pushed myself to diamond 3 and two other accounts to champion 3. I learnt how to blog and most importantly I learnt about crypto and blockchain. My very first season end reward was disappointing. But when I got to know that I didn't need to spend the DEC I collected so far on spellbook again, made me really happy. I used it to buy my first card – spirit miner and I also levelled up all my summoners to level 2 (except Pyre, because I ran out of DEC). Also, I bought 2 packs to become eligible for the airdrop lol. (Didn’t get the airdrop, no surprises there)
Anyways, the journey so far has been full of excitement. I celebrated my 16th birthday with my Splinterlands family. I found 2 very loving Godmothers @clove71 and @raynie. I made so many friends and became a part of the goat gang. And now I’m looking forward to reading all the lore, take part in AMAs and also figure out how to actually get money out of the game when I get my own bank account lol.
Thank you for showing interest in my journey and I hope I keep adding more and more to this.
