I lived in the Chicago area for some years; not a Cubs fan, not really a sports fan at all (apart from my own surfing!) but I understand the appeal.

I was in El Salvador when the Cubs won. My roomie was a guy from the Chi-town area, and he (of course) went ballistic at the end... ;)
