Dallas Mavericks Will Accept Crypto For Tickets Next Season
The Dallas Mavericks NBA franchise will begin accepting crypto-currency payments for ticket sales next season. Owner and investor Mark Cuban announced recently that the basketball team has plans to accept Bitcoin, Ethereum and possibly some other crypto-currencies during the 2018-19 NBA season.
Twitter Breaks the News
The news broke thanks to a great question from a Twitter user named @13ac0n_. "Mark, when will I be able to purchase Mav's tickets with bitcoin?" asked @13ac0n_. Mark was quick to respond with a "Next Season", exciting crypto-enthusiasts and Mav's fans alike.
CoinDesk reached out to Mark Cuban to confirm the news, as some things said on Twitter should be taken with a grain of salt. When CoinDesk spoke with Cuban, the Mavericks owner indeed confirmed the news. The Dallas Mavericks will be accepting Bitcoin, Ethereum and possibly some other crypto-currencies for tickets during the 2018-19 NBA season.
The Mavericks are not the first NBA team to accept crypto-currency payments. Back in 2014, the Sacramento Kings announced they will be accepting Bitcoin payments for merchandise and ticket sales through their team store. It's always nice to see professional sports teams hopping aboard!
