Rousey vs. Carano: Certainly not the best but I guess I'll watch this
The White House UFC show gets talked about every now and then even though we are not 100% sure that it is actually going to happen. Given the rather very popular or extremely unpopular nature of the current USA President, I can imagine the security logistics of an event of this sort would be extremely difficult and time-consuming to pull off.
Once in a while though, some new fight gets tentatively added to the sports world but this time it is none other than Jake Paul's MVP company that the ex "best-ever" fighter Ronda Rousey was going to come out of long retirement to have an MMA fighter with Gina Carano.
You probably know Rousey from MMA, you probably know Carano from being fired from Star Wars for not towing the political line.

one side of me is upset because I feel as though Jake Paul has kind of bastardized combat-fighting-sports by making fights that end up pulling in a lot more money than the real fights and therefore the real promotions really don't have much choice but to follow suit and have equally ridiculous matchups. So far the boxing world at least hasn't taken the bait for the most part, but UFC certainly has since they often will leapfrog the better fighters in lieu of someone that has more followers on social media.
The reasoning behind this was that Carano was fighting in women's MMA a decade before Ronda did but people just weren't paying attention. They also haven't fought a great deal as of late and no, WWE doesn't count.

Ronda was once the GOAT, but she kind of pissed off the MMA world when after a series of a mere 2 losses, she packed up her things and had a several-year hissy fit and even going so far as to bad-mouth the UFC organization, the sport in general, and even the fans. It was a real "sour grapes" situation and I was not on her side for it. Take the "L" I say... and move on.

Gina was arguably more dedicated to MMA than Ronda was, because she stuck around when she was getting paid peanuts and nobody was really watching - especially the women's division.
Carano last fought in 2009 against Strikeforce Champion Cris Cyborg... and got absolutely worked.

This generated a lot of hype at the time but Cyborg was a mutant that had many people questioning if she actually was a biological female. The weight was well off and Cyborg had a relatively easy time with Carano. Carano also only has 8 fights total under he belt, but I suppose that is understandable since nobody really cared about the women's division back then and it probably wasn't easy to book fights at all.
Rousey on the other hand, hasn't fought in MMA in nearly a decade. The bout was seriously promoted and was meant to be her solidification as the GOAT and to make a triumphant comeback. Ronda was KO'd in 48 seconds.
I have no idea how much these women are being offered for this, but seeing as how it is only a few months away and Jake, despite his flaws, does actually follow through on that which he promotes. I am sure they will be getting at least $10 million each. That's a lot of WWE-ing or Mandalorian-ing.
I hope it is interesting but what I fear is that Ronda is going to return to what got her to be a big name in the first place and she will revert to her judo tactics, do a crazy flip in the opening seconds and secure an arm-bar for the win in the first round.
