This super wealthy sport stars need to get drivers for their cars

in #sportsyesterday

The recent and new car crash for Tiger Woods was something that was more funny than upsetting. I for one, do not expect that these ultra-wealthy celebrities should be perfect people that never do anything "wrong." I think that if I had that sort of success in life I would almost certainly live to excess as well. I mean, if you are that rich and famous, there really isn't anything that you cant do so what's stopping you?

I think there should be a sense of concern about the public though and in the case of Tiger Woods and many other celebrities that I can think of, crashing a car while under the influence seems to be a pretty common thing. I don't know if they don't think that there are going to be any consequences or what but it would be one thing if these guys ended up doing the 80's rock star thing and crashing some sort of supercar sportscar, but these guys are crashing sedans or soccer mom cars which says to me that this is just their normal ride.

Looking at the wreck it is unclear to me how this was even possible. It almost looks like he parked it that way on purpose with the help of a crane.

I recall multiple instances of one of the greatest and wealthiest UFC fighters of all time, Jon Jones, getting into car accidents and it turns out he was drunk and high at those times as well. While I understand that when you reach that level you might feel invincible and that you can do anything you want, I feel as though with all the minders that people like this almost certainly have that someone in their "admin" should maybe organize rides for them?

I think that if I was a partying lunatic with all the money in the world that I would probably prefer to NOT drive myself and I don't get why these particular type of stars don't. Maybe they just want to be left alone but how much more relaxed can you possibly be than in the back of a limo?

I don't like when people point to these people and try to say that they can't believe they are like this. Of course super wealthy people like to party. You probably like to party and you aren't even super wealthy. For me, I don't expect Tiger Woods, Jon Jones, or any other rich person to be some sort of puritan. I don't care if they have a drinking problem, or an Elvis doctor that has them all over prescription pills, or drugs, or hookers, or whatever. What I do have a problem with is when they are around the rest of us that actually DO have to play by the rules and now they are endangering us in the process.

Hurting someone else didn't happen any of these times and don't believe the stories about Jon Jones killing someone else in a car crash, that was another person who just happens to have the same name, but this doesn't change the fact that it could have and this is why we have these laws in the first place.

The stars can afford it but I do not like it when they have almost zero consequences for their actions. I would like to see Tiger Woods do at least a little bit of actual jail time, even if it is in some prison resort that they put rich people in, since he is a "repeat customer" when it comes to DUI car crashes.

Then maybe he would do the sensible thing and have a personal driver. You know he can definitely afford it.

I don't like the calls that some out there are saying that we should strip him of all of his awards and sponsors and turn our backs on him. That's just nuts. He won that stuff and earned the sponsors, he is not-so-arguably the most important thing that ever happened to golf.

We can't just let him walk away from this with a slap on the wrist though. He needs to face actual consequences. The consequences for you or I would be catastrophically high, there is no reason why this guy should be able to get off with a warning just because he is the most famous golfer that ever lived.

What do you think?
