Sports form an integral part of human life. They are one of the prime forms of entertainment of man. Sports help in attaining freedom from the cluster of monotony and boredom around one’s life. Now records aren’t too far away from sports. A popular English saying goes” Where there is a Will there is a Way.” Similar is the case with the sports and records. Records stand as firm as a rock. To break a record, require a Herculean effort that would send a chill down the spine of ordinary players to even think of breaking such brilliant records. We will discuss about the very same record that are unlikely to be broken.

Volleyball:

• The longest duration for indoor volleyball lasted for 85 hours. The record was accomplished by SVU (Southern Virginia University) volleyball Netherland in the Netherlands. Sixty-three matches that comprised 338 sets, were played in the duration. The total points scored were 14653.
• Changos De Naranjito holds the records for winning the maximum number of national championships by a team. They won 20 of them between the period of 1958-2004.
• The people of Taiwan achieved a rare record on 2nd October ,2008. The maximum number of people (299) controlled volleyballs in Taiwan. The ball was controlled for a minimum of 10 seconds by the member who took part.
• Karch Kailey of the USA at 44 years and 284 days became the most aged player to win the A.V.P (association of volleyball professional) tour title, the Huntington beach open in USA on the 13th august 2005.
• The maximum number of smashes achieved in a minute by a team comprising of 4 people is 9. The record was accomplished by Dennis Damel, Stephane Marthurin, Stephane Farue an Sabastian Le Bosse in France on 15th august 2005.

• Goran Ivanisevic of Croatia holds the record for scoring the most number of Aces in a Tennis match-1477 in the year 1996.
• Jimmy Cornnors of the USA owns the record for winning the Association of tennis Professional(ATP) singles titles the maximum number of times. The number stands at 109.
• Martina Navratilova, a Czech born American tennis player, possesses the record for winning the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) singles titles the most number of times. The tally stands for a whopping 167.
• Rafael Nadal of Spain has the record for winning a grand slam the most number of times. He won the French open for 9 times.
• Roger Federer of Switzerland holds the record for playing the most number of Grand Slam semifinals in a row. The semifinals number 23. Rod Laver of Australia, in 1962 and 1969, won all grand slams in a season. He is the only man to achieve this fantastic record.
• Steffi Graf of Germany, enjoyed the world No. 1 spot for a total of 377 weeks, more than any other tennis player, male or female in the history of the sports.

• Jason Taylor of the USA hold the record for scoring maximum number of career goals, he scored a tremendous 942 goals.
• Ken Irvine of Australia holds the remarkable record for the most number of career ties which stand at 212.
• El Masri has scored the most number of points 342 in a season. He achieved the record in the 2004 season.
• Johnathan Thurston (Australia) owes record for the maximum number of career try assists. The tally stands at 288. He is still active player and his Tally is almost sure to pass 300 in the near future. Hazem el Masri is the undisputed leader in scoring more career points than anyone in the history of the sports. He has scored the Majestic of 2418 career points.
• Brad thorn of New Zealand at 36 year, 262 days is the most aged player till date to feature in a world cup final against France on 23rd October, 2011.
• Francios Steyn of south Africa at 20 years, 159 days is the youngest player to seal a world cup final against England on 20th October, 2007.

Golf:

• The longest shot in the history of the game resulting in a hole in one was struck by Robert Mitera in Nebraska. The distance covered by the was an amazing 444 yards.
• A hole in one means the ball going straight into the hole in one shot. The youngest player to shoot a hole in one is Jake Paine who was merely three years old when he struck a hole in one in California. The distance covered was 65 yards.
• Tiger woods of the USA has been on the number 1 position for the most number of weeks at a stretch of 281 weeks. He has also been at that position for the most number of total weeks i.e. 683 weeks.
• Sam Snead of USA holds the record for winning the PGA Tour Tournament, Greater Greensboro Open, the number of times. He won 6 number of times.
• Byron Nelson of the USA owns the record for winning the maximum number of tournaments at a stretch. He won 11 PGA tournaments in a row in 1945.
