US Economy - stagflation? goldilocks?

in #stagflation12 days ago

US inflation rose to 3.4% in the first quarter of this year. On the other hand, GDP growth was slower than expected.

People worry about stagflation, which is a combination of rising prices and economic recession.
However, the U.S. economy grew by 1.6% during the same period, which is by no means a low growth rate. It's not clear if the US economy is Goldilocks, either. Compared to the stagflation in the 1970s, price rises are not at a serious level, but it seems premature to be confident that prices will remain stable.

Anyway, if someone asks me if I would invest in US stocks, I will say "yes." This is because the situation appears to be much better than other developed countries, such as Europe, where prices are rising but the economy is not growing.
