The Diary Game [09/11/2025] // A Long Day at the Parents-Teachers Meeting.

Hi guys, accept Steem greetings from the motherland-Cameroon, and welcome to my blog, where I share my daily lifestyle content.

The day has been one of those long, draining days that test both patience and endurance. The sun rose beautifully over the city, and as I packed breakfast for the children, I reminded myself that it was the day for the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) meeting at their school. I wanted to make a good impression and also understand how my children were performing. After sending them off, I quickly dressed up, grabbed my notebook, and hurried to the school premises.

At my kids school for the parent/teachers meeting.

The meeting started on a positive note. The headteacher gave a warm welcome speech, appreciating parents for their efforts in supporting their children’s education despite the economic challenges. There was a sense of unity and hope in the hall. We listened attentively as teachers gave updates on students’ progress, discipline, and upcoming school projects. For the first two hours, everything seemed orderly, and I felt proud to be part of such a committed community of parents.

But as the agenda moved to “questions and observations,” the atmosphere began to change. One parent raised a concern about the cost of school uniforms, claiming the material was too expensive and faded too quickly. Another jumped in to complain about the food served in the school canteen. She said the children were given too little for the amount being paid. The murmurs grew louder, and soon, parents were talking over each other.

Then came the issue of the school bus. Some parents said the drivers were careless and arrived late, while others defended them, saying the traffic situation was beyond their control. The headteacher tried to calm the tension, but by then the hall had turned into a battlefield of opinions. When one parent accused certain teachers of favouritism, the teachers’ representative stood up to defend his colleagues. That only made things worse, people clapped, shouted, and exchanged harsh words. What started as a simple discussion had turned into a heated debate that lasted for hours.

Returning Home exhausted.

By the time the meeting ended after nearly five exhausting hours,my head was pounding. I barely had the energy to greet anyone as I left. My body ached, and all I wanted was a warm bath and some rest. But as soon as I reached home, I remembered I still had to cook dinner. The children were hungry, so I forced myself into the kitchen, and cooked rice.

Finally, after everyone had eaten and the dishes were done, I sank into the couch, just in time to watch the Arsenal versus Sunderland match. Football has always been my little escape. Watching Arsenal play lifted my spirits, even though the day had worn me out completely.

As I switched off the TV and prepared for bed, I could not help but smile wearily. The day had been long, tiring, and full of drama but that is motherhood for you hehehehehehe duty, patience, and love, all rolled into one. Until my next diary guys, it is goodnight from my end.

It seems to be the same everywhere in the world: my children went to great kindergartens and schools; what I hated were the other parents... Whether it was about not letting the little ones get their clothes dirty or demonizing the collective consumption of gummy bears—parents are so stupid! And dealing with them probably costs teachers more nerves than a whole bunch of rascals... .

So true! 😅 It’s amazing how often the biggest challenges aren’t the kids, but the adults around them. Teachers definitely deserve extra credit for managing all those different parenting styles and expectations on top of the actual teaching.

Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.

Your support is greatly appreciated.

Good afternoon and God bless.

Let me share in your day, first to say that you're a great woman your children must be proud. Some mothers do not like going for meetings like this not knowing that it gives an opportunity to interface with those who have your children hours with them every week. From PTA you will know the direction the school is going and the caliber of teachers they have.
The future of a child if depending on who is teaching them or who there are listening to at that tender age.

On the aspect of favoritism, it's positive to be accused, and very possible that's it a misinterpretation of relationship between the teacher and the students or pupils. Every teacher will love and appreciate a smart kid, but one should be care of how they hype other children. Treat them equally.

Thank you! I completely agree, staying involved helps us understand our kids’ learning environment better. And yes, every child deserves to feel equally valued and encouraged.
