A 10-pages comic I did in 5 days (never knew I'd do something this crazy!)

Hi everyone! Here's my first post on Steemit. I got to know about Steemit from my lecturer; Mr @sireh. I'm not really good in writing since I'm a visual person but I hope you'll enjoy this post.

So last 15th Oct 2017, a Malaysian comic contest by www.matkomik.com was announced. The contest are usually held at the end of the year (every year since 2014). It has become like-my tradition to enter it I guess, since I've won the 2nd place in 2015. Each year, they come up with different theme and the theme for this year is 'sports'.

Upon reading the theme, I immediately thought of skateboard, since it's my favorite sport (skateboarding is considered as extreme sport). I started making a rough draft, sketched and inked. And finally managed to get it done by 19th Oct 2017. Phew!
So here's the final result; a 10 pages comic entitled "Skate!!"

How did I managed to get this done in 5 days? Even I couldn't believe I did it.
Since I'm still just an amateur, I'd say it will take at least a week to draw 10 pages comic.

What's making it so long to produce a comic is usually 'coming up with an idea'. My friends who also enter the contest took weeks to just think of a nice idea. Luckily for me, before this contest began, I've already thinking about making a short story about skateboard. So I'm pretty much just recycled an old idea.

The original idea was to make Dani a teenage boy who is suffering from a sickness but is trying hard to achieve his dream. But then, I had a tough time trying to put the story into just 10 pages. So I thought- "why not just make it two characters- one who already knows about skateboard and the other one suffering from sickness?". I also thought of making both Aki and Dani as kids. But then, it would be better to have an adult as a mentor. When I got the story fixed, I started designing the characters.

After I've got the characters and story fixed, it's drafting time!
Drafting comic is not easy I'd say, if you do not get the flow correct, you have to adjust it again and again.
So here's my final rough draft:

Luckily it was semester break the moment this contest was announced. So I wouldn't need to worry about assignments and I had all the time in the world to draw this comic. I drew days and night, before I slept and after I woke up. Luckily, the results turned out great :D

I've also thought of an AU (alternate universe) where both Dani and Aki have an age swap. Would it bring a different impact to readers?
