SVM Testnet Update: 187K Blocks Reached and Validator Status Report
Hi everyone,
Following up on my previous update regarding the v0.0.4.1 maintenance release, I am pleased to report that the Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) testnet continues to operate with strong stability and consistent block production.
As we push further into the testnet phase, I want to provide a transparent snapshot of our current network metrics and validator set status.
Network Health and Current Metrics
The SVM testnet is running smoothly. The underlying consensus mechanism and the v0.0.4 security patches remain robust, processing transactions efficiently.
Current Testnet Statistics:
- Total Blocks Produced: 187,000+
- Total Transactions: 7,616
- Average Block Time: ~5.5 seconds
- Active Validators: 9 / 12
Reaching over 187,000 blocks and surpassing 7,600 transactions demonstrates the network's resilience and the growing utility of the test environment as we prepare for more complex smart contract deployments.
Validator Status and Action Required
Currently, 9 out of our 12 registered validators are fully updated, synced, and actively participating in both consensus and oracle duties. A thank you to these operators for maintaining excellent uptime and contributing to network security.
However, we currently have two validators in a jailed state:
Action Required for Jailed Validators:
If you are reading this, your node has likely fallen behind on the latest updates or experienced a sync issue that triggered the slashing module. To rejoin the active set and resume earning testnet rewards, please take the following steps:
Update Your Node and Oracle:
Refer to the recently published SVM Validator Update Guide. The automated./update.shscript will handle pulling the latest v0.0.4.1 images, resetting chain data safely, refreshing peers, and state-syncing your node in minutes.Verify Sync Status:
Ensure your node reportscatching_up: falseand is at the current block height (187,000+).Unjail Your Validator:
Once your node is fully synced and your oracle client is running the latest code, submit an unjail transaction:docker exec steemvm-node /root/go/bin/steemvmd tx slashing unjail \ --from <your_moniker> \ --home /root/.steemvm \ --chain-id steemvm \ --gas auto \ --gas-adjustment 1.5 \ --gas-prices 1000000000asteem \ -y
If you encounter any errors during this process, please reach out in the SVM operator channels so we can assist you in getting back online promptly.
Looking Ahead: Sherpa Protocol Deployment
With the network consistently healthy, the v0.0.4.x security and maintenance upgrades successfully rolled out, and our container images hardened to zero critical vulnerabilities, the foundation is solid.
Our next major milestone is the deployment and testing of the Sherpa Protocol smart contracts. This will introduce native decentralized finance (DeFi) capabilities, trading, and liquidity features directly to the Steem Virtual Machine environment. We will share the deployment schedule and testing instructions once our validator set is fully restored to maximum capacity.
Testnet Disclaimer
Important Reminder: The Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) is strictly in its testnet phase. All bonded STEEM, transactions executed, and tokens generated are purely for testing the consensus and EVM execution layers. There is no real-world monetary value attached to this chain or its assets.
Thank you to all validators for your continued dedication, transparency, and swift action in maintaining the SVM network. Your cooperation is what makes this iterative development process successful.
