REFERENCE DRAWING

What I drew today is the portrait of my beautiful wife. She tied a scarf on her head and put on a big round earring

Materials for the drawing

• Plain A3 embossed paper
• 10B pencil
• 5B pencil
• 2B pencil
• HB pencil
• Brush
• Eraser
• Razor blade

Step 1
I wrote my name and date on the A3 paper after which I drew the right eye. I shaded the black eyelid and the surrounding area of the eye. I used both HB 2B and 5B pencils. I also use my brush to blend the shading.

Step 2
I drew the left eye, shaded the black eyelid and the surrounding area of the eye. I also used both HB, 2B, and 5B pencils, as well as a brush, to blend the shading.

Step 3
I drew and shaded the nose and the nostril using HB, 2B, 5B and a blush for blending. I also sketched her mouth.

Step 4
I shaded her lips using an HB, 5B and a brush.

Step 5
I sketch the formation of her head and shoulder. I started with the edge of her scarf at the forehead. I then sketched her cheek, lower jaw, the ear and her scarf. I then sketched her neck and her shoulder.

Step 6
I sketched her earrings and drew the pattern of her clothes.

Step 7
I shaded her entire face using a 2B pencil and a brush.

Step 8
I shaded the pattern on her scarf, ear, and neck using a 10B pencil, an HB pencil, and a brush.

Step 9
I shaded her earrings, adjusted the shading on her neck, her shoulder and the pattern on her shirt.

✅ How long did it take to complete your drawing and how do you feel about it?

This drawing took me about seven (7) hours from start to finish. I began yesterday, 18th April, 2026. Have some rest and continue today. I felt very happy after completing the drawing and the comment I received from my wife.

Drawing has been my hobby and today's drawing is a selection and request from my wife which is what makes me draw.
