SLC30-W1 | 24 Hours Travel Reporter : Tourist Attraction Spot.
So today I decided to visit a tourist park in the heart of my city called Plaza in Uyo, and since it's a 24-hour experience, I had to stay there till it was night. After all, morning, afternoon, evening, and night are classified as one full day. Staying 24 hours on precision would mean staying overnight to complete the hours.
So it's basically visiting the place in the morning when they open and leaving when they close or before. I know it's a park, but the park has security to avoid theft and vandalization. So you can't just enter anytime.
What kind of tourist attraction spot have you visited? Briefly introduce it. |
|---|
This tourist attraction spot is a park called Ibom Plaza. It was once a place for commerce and exchange and was the most rowdy of places in my city. Now, it's different because some months back, during Christmas Eve, it was renovated and commissioned. That's the history of this place. It is now a renovated park that preserves the culture of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, and it's a place that brings people together, both the rich and the poor.

It's a place most people would want to go on a tour in. Can you imagine? A Korean came to Uyo some months back and had one of her tours in this park. This is to show that this park is a tourist site. How unique? Permit me to do a review of this place's structure, design, and span.
Structure, Design, Location, Purpose |

The park is a two-section park with 6 entrances that allows people to pass through without having to crowd the entrance. The park is very spacious and can accommodate a relatively large number of people. It has protective walls that are small at the entrance and high in other areas. Like I said, it has two sections, Section A and B.
Section A is just an open space with monuments, a food stand, and a long sit-out space. Section B has business places for printing, framing photos, and a food stand for tourists to make themselves comfortable. If you look close, there are two dominant colors that differentiate Park A from Park B.
Section A has a dominant orange color mixed with green, designed on its trees. Section B is known for its red color, combined with other colors, and the park benches are painted in different colors—orange, green, and maroon. This place is located at the heart of Uyo, Plaza, and you can locate this place using 6 different directions.

These 6 routes are connected to a roundabout where this tourist park is located. In this tourist park, 4 routes share 3 entrances while the remaining 2 routes share two entrances. Concerning the exterior, it has two fountains to perfect the view of this place at night, but unfortunately, they're not working again, and there's a monument in the middle of these two entrances.

How were the services and activities, both inside and outside? (With pictures, prices, and videos) |
|---|
So I decided to start my day by 8 AM in the morning, and I used the main entrance that connects Oron Rd to the roundabout. Before entering, I noticed some services and activities by the exterior of this park. I could capture them because my conscience won't just let me.
- Begging and SIM Registration: This park actually links 4 different routes, and people cross to get to the other route. It's more like a bridge. These are the most prominent activities in this place, as the beggars there are confident that with the crowd of people passing there, they'll show them a little mercy. Also, SIM registration is done there in minutes. POS service is also carried out in the exterior of this place.
On getting inside using the gate, I saw two sets of people with different types of services, which I'd share. I was dressed in a vintage shirt and baggy jeans, responsible.
- Security: There is a squad team by the entrance of this tourist park, and their Hilux keep is parked right in the middle of the entrance; in case there is any malicious activity in the park, they'll take immediate action. They are the people we call quick response service, and they are always there, alert, 24/7. From the little knowledge I have, they do work on a shift basis, though.
- Photographers for passports: This is the most reliable place to take a one-minute passport, and they are usually seen at the entrance of the park to get customers by the hand to their stand. Their service is very reliable even though I've not patronized them before. From their being swift and approachable, I could tell that they are good at their job..
It was Section A. I entered with no doubt, and using my left, I discovered a food stand with a lot of paired chairs. From these settings, I knew they had something to offer. I then approached one of the sales reps, and she attended to me, telling me the prices of certain things sold there. The manner of approach was top-notch.

I then moved to Park B during my tour to check other places. I noticed that they have a small printing press in that place, combined with a phone store, a repairs store, and a photo frames store. All 4 in one building. These are the services that are carried out in this building. I decided to print my Canva picture. They told me that color printing isn't done there and that it would be expensive elsewhere. So I decided to do black and white with them. This is the card in black and white.

- Popcorn and food stand: This was another facility I visited in this place, and I was after the pursuit of popcorn. They told me it wasn't ready. At night, the demand for popcorn is so scary. You'll have to stand in a queue to get your popcorn even with the fact that they have two machines for this purpose.

- Entertainment Service: This is the only service that's free because there's a large television in front of a mini stadium, and people go there to watch football matches, movies, and other visual entertainment for free. *Their video quality in terms of movie display is damn good, and the balance in sound is also made in a way that won't overly distract others and sound like noise or be excessively loud.

They also have solar-powered lamps, CCTV cameras, and loudspeakers for entertainment. These are the additional things that make this place outstanding.

What was the demand for visitors like during the morning, afternoon, or evening? |
|---|
I started my tour in the morning, so I know how the movement was. I had to stay there till 10pm to know when visitors visit most, and to my surprise, it's usually at night and partially in the evening hours when the sun is at dusk.
Morning |
|---|
In the morning, this park was not that rowdy as it used to be in the afternoon. It was just so solemn and dull, and a few persons came for you, taking photographs with the beautiful designs on the walls. This was the time I took most of the pictures because I wouldn't have to make it obvious that I was snapping passers-by.

In those facilities I listed, they barely had enough customers in the morning, let alone in the night. Just some customers who come in and go. They don't settle because of the morning sun, as there are no prominent shades in section B.
Afternoon |
|---|
In the afternoon, visitors were many, and the place started pulling a little traffic. It wasn't that rowdy, but a lot of people were engaged. Even the stadium area was filled with a few persons, which wasn't so in the morning. The demand for food and cold drinks started coming in as people thought of having their lunch that afternoon.

To those who came to tour, they did so because the sun would give them a perfect photograph. In the afternoon, I did myself a favor by just taking sharp pictures, as pictures in the morning were dull and less bright. I explored the culture of my state through the designs on the walls, drawings, and monuments.

Evening |
|---|
The evening was when it was rowdy. The stadium area wasn't completely filled but had people sitting in all corners because there was a movie that was showing. The demand at the food stand increased so much that they needed more hands to help with certain things. The normal queue for popcorn was in sight, and a lot of seats were arranged in pairs for visitors. That evening's vibes, the calmness, and everything were just suitable for many people.

What did you learn, or how did you feel, from this 24-hour experience? |
|---|
This 24-hour tour experience made me observe something about people and the purpose of this place. It also made me see that there are different times when things boom well. Seeing the poor and the rich sitting down in the cinematic view of the stadium together was something I would commend.
In most parks, the poor can't be seen there because the gate feels alone is enough to chase them away, and both classes of people just sat down as if nothing happened. This is how unity should be.

I felt satisfied that I could experience a lot of things in the morning, afternoon, and evening hours, and I had a taste of their puff-puff. It was the best I've tasted so far. Can you imagine? I laughed with someone I was sitting close to when watching the movie in the stadium.
I just felt that connection at night, and let me talk about their menu. This was what shocked me. Kindly take a look at this menu. To the rich, they'll feel that this menu is cheap, but the food served for their prices is rich.
This menu helps the poor who won't be able to afford expensive, classy meals to do so alongside the rich. You know something about some tourist sites; it's just meant for those who can afford anything placed on bills, but I came to discover that not all places do this.
Conclusion |
|---|
If you've not had a 24-hour tour before, I'll encourage you to do this so that you'll see the behavior of many people in that place and the views at different times of the day. This place is more beautiful at night than in the day. And you may conclude that the television is just for fancy, not knowing it's functional at night.
Cherish the little moments and look for an extension. I did and I was happy.
