Meghna Bridge is one of the most important bridges in Bangladesh. It is located on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway and has made the communication system between the capital, Dhaka, and the eastern part of the country easy and dynamic. This bridge, built on the Meghna River, is not just a structure, but an important part of Bangladesh's economy, trade, transport, and communication system. Thousands of vehicles use this bridge every day to travel from one region of the country to another. It was built in 1991 with the funding of the Japanese and Bangladeshi governments. Another name for this bridge is "Japan-Bangladesh Friendship Bridge-1". Later, in 2019, due to the pressure of vehicles and traffic congestion, another new bridge was built. The length of this bridge is about 900 meters.

Since my home is in Comilla, I travel from the capital, Dhaka, to Comilla every week through this bridge. One of the two ends of the bridge is Sonargaon, and the other end is a place called Gazaria. The bridge built on the Meghna River is a historical bridge of our country. While passing by by bus, I see an extraordinarily beautiful view of the river from the bridge. There is a toll plaza in the Sonargaon part of the bridge. Each vehicle has to pay a certain amount of toll when entering the bridge. Through this bridge, trade facilities with Chittagong, the largest seaport of our country, have increased.

Meghna Bridge is located near the Sonargaon area of the Narayanganj district. This bridge has made travel from Dhaka to Chittagong, Comilla, Noakhali, Feni, Cox's Bazar, and Sylhet regions much easier. Earlier, people had to rely on ferries to cross the river, which wasted time and caused various inconveniences to the passengers. But after the construction of the bridge, vehicles can move quickly and easily. As a result, there has been a positive change in the country's trade and commerce.

Speed limit on Meghna Bridge
The Dhaka-Chittagong highway is one of the busiest roads in Bangladesh. Because this road connects the capital with the country's main seaport, Chittagong. Therefore, the Meghna Bridge is very important. The country's various industrial products, import-export goods, and the movement of ordinary people depend on this road. Without the bridge, the communication system would have slowed down a lot, and economic activities would have been disrupted. I went to the bridge to record photos and videos while coming from my home in Comilla to the capital, Dhaka. It was very difficult for me to maintain my balance on the bridge because the cars were moving at high speed.
- Important means of communication:
As one of the main parts of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, this bridge ensures fast communication between the eastern part of the country and the capital. Numerous buses, trucks, private cars, and motorcycles use this bridge every day.

- Beautiful view of the Meghna River:
The beauty of the vast Meghna River can be seen very beautifully from the bridge. Especially the view of the river during sunrise and sunset fascinates the passengers.
- Economic importance:
This bridge is very important for transporting goods from the Chittagong seaport. It plays a big role in transporting goods of the country's trade, commerce, and industries.
- Modern engineering design:
Constructing a strong structure over a large river is an example of Bangladesh's engineering skills. The design and construction style of the bridge are quite strong and effective.

- Passenger rest center:
There are many food shops, tea stalls, and rest areas around the bridge. Long-distance passengers take some breaks here and rest.
- Beauty at night:
The illumination of the bridge at night makes the whole area more attractive. The illuminated bridge looks very beautiful from a distance.
As a curious traveler, when I first crossed the Meghna Bridge, the whole experience was very exciting for me. As I moved along the busy road of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, the huge bridge from a distance seemed to be standing on the river's chest. The closer I got, the more the vastness of the Meghna River fascinated me.

At night, electric lights burn in rows.
As soon as I got on the bridge, the surrounding scenery changed completely. The vast river below, small boats in the distance, and the light breeze combined to make the atmosphere very charming. Looking out of the car window, I felt like I had become a part of a travel story. The cool breeze blowing over the river was very tiring.
The most interesting part of the trip was seeing the environment around the bridge. Small tea shops, food hotels, and the crowd of passengers on the side of the road brought the whole place to life. I stopped at a shop and had hot tea. It felt very good to stand with a cup of tea in hand and look at the river.
The beauty of the Meghna River attracted me the most. The river water is sometimes calm, sometimes choppy. Locals said that the river takes on a larger and stronger form during the monsoon. The fishing boats moving on the river and the green trees in the distance made the scene even more beautiful.

The beauty of the bridge with the clouds in the sky
The atmosphere of the bridge becomes even more wonderful in the evening. As the sun slowly sets, a reddish light spreads in the sky, and that light falls on the river water and creates a wonderful scene. Later, when the lights of the bridge are turned on, the whole place turns into a different beauty. Then it seems that this is not just a bridge, but a bright symbol of modern Bangladesh.
However, being a busy highway, traffic jams are also visible. Numerous buses and trucks were plying, yet there was a kind of vitality in the whole environment. Seeing so many people traveling, it is clear how important this bridge is for the country's communication system.
