Hello dear friends,
How are you all? I hope you are well. I am also fine by the grace of Allah. Today, I have come to participate in the fourth week of the Steemit Challenge SLC-S30/W4, organized by the Honorable organizer @max-pro sir. He has brought a wonderful and thoughtful challenge, whose name is "24 Hours Travel Reporter : City Landmark Zone."I feel proud to participate in this challenge.

Front of Hajiganj Fort
Today I have visited an ancient fort in the Narayanganj district. The name of the fort is Hajiganj Fort, also known as Khijirpur Fort. The historical fort located on the west bank of the Shitalakshya River in the Hajiganj area of Narayanganj district is believed to have been built during the Mughal period. Today I will visit that historical fort and set a pin on the Steem-Atlas map.
Historical place Hajiganj Fort
Since ancient times, the Narayanganj district has been famous for various reasons. Narayanganj district is called the Dandi of the Ancients. Many monuments of the Mughal era are spread all over the Narayanganj district. Hajiganj Fort in Narayanganj district is one of them.

Road beside the fort
This place can be reached within 10 minutes from Chashara in Narayanganj. Just tell any rickshaw or auto that the name of Hajiganj Fort will take you there. The fort is located on the banks of the Shitalakshya River. There is a fort here called Habiganj fort. The historic Hajiganj Fort is located near this ghat.
Boundary wall from long distance
The exact date of the construction of the Hajiganj Fort is not known. However, according to historians, it was probably built by Subedar Islam Khan soon after the Mughal capital was established in Dhaka. There was a time when the river was the center of everything. Everything, good or bad, was built around the river. At that time, the scourge of pirates was very high. They used to attack in groups through the waterways. The Maghs and the Portuguese carried out these attacks more often. These forts were built to prevent their attacks.
Security wall of the Hijiganj fort
This is a notable example of the river forts built by the Mughal Empire around Dhaka. It is also mentioned that at that time, it was along with two other forts to protect the city of Dhaka, which created a defense system for Dhaka. Those two forts are Sonakanda Fort and Idrakpur Fort.
Stairs to get to the wall
The historical name of the fort and the area around it was Khizirpur. Many still know the place as Khizirpur.
The Hajiganj Fort was made of burnt bricks and plaster. The red bricks still stand as a witness to history. Although the beauty of the fort has ended. The internal structure of the fort has disappeared. The secret tunnel that was the only source of danger in times of danger cannot be found today.

The fort is located on a very large area
Once upon a time, the fort on the shore was the protective charm of the city. With the change of time, that protective charm has ended and has now become dull. Although archaeologists took the responsibility of preserving it, for some unknown reason, that responsibility was not fulfilled. So the protective charm of great power is just a wall today.
I am beside the wall
Today, the Hajiganj Fort is just a relic of history. When you enter the fort, only the security boundary is visible on all sides. The inside is now nothing but a playground. But the boundaries of the historical period are witnesses to history. Such wide and thick brick walls seem to bring history to the fort. The fortunate thing is that the Hajiganj Fort carries considerable importance to the locals. They show respect for it. The place actually remembers the great sons of the past with respect. Due to whose fearless courage, we have gained safety.

How were the services and history both inside and outside? (With pictures + prices, videos) |

Hajiganj Fort can be seen from the main road. The huge fort made of red bricks stands as a witness to time. Although the boundary wall of the fort is broken, nothing is visible. Inside, where there was once a fort or tent, there is now a playground. The boys of the area play various games here.
Even so, looking at the boundary of the Hajiganj Fort, a witness to history, many memories of that time come to mind.

Looking at the wall, the design of the fort has round corner turrets and a machicolated parapet equipped for musket gun fire. The gun-holed wall holds a fort-walkway 1.22 meters high from the base, which acts as a defensive platform.

Each corner turret has an internal staircase to go down to the level of the fort wall, where there is a wide opening made for firing cannons, which is still visible. A distinctive feature of the fort is a distinctive, tall square brick pillar located at one corner of the quadrangle, which was probably used as a watchtower.
Now I am submitting a short video of the Hajiganj fort
What is the demand for tourists inside and outside the place? |

The Hajiganj Fort once served as a protective charm for the city. Along with this fort, two other forts were used to protect the entire Dhaka from the hands of Portuguese pirates. Such an important fort is being lost due to carelessness and neglect. The responsibility for its protection has not been taken as it should have been.

The wall had beautiful ancient designs on it.
But the city residents have not forgotten the contribution of the Hajiganj Fort. They come here from far and wide to present its correct history to future generations and to see this fort, a witness to history. It is known from the locals that many people gather here every afternoon who want to be witnesses of history.
Huge banyan tree inside the fort
At that time, an atmosphere like a temporary fair is created. Everyone is interested in knowing history. However, the news is that the current government has ordered the preservation of the Hajiganj Fort. Hopefully, it will be presented to everyone in a more comprehensive manner through the Department of Archaeology.

I visited the place in the morning on 25-03-26. A beautiful road passes in front of the place. A big gate stands at the entrance of the fort. Ages have passed, but the beauty of the past has not been lost. Although the captivating designs on the gate wall have been erased. The construction style of the gate is now surprising. I can see that the gate is 10 feet wide, which is proof of security.
A place to attack from inside the castle
History enthusiasts meet at Haji Ganj Fort every afternoon. Various games are also played in the open field. The fort is open to everyone for 24 hours. However, in the evening, due to security reasons, there are no visitors here.
