Mobile phone addiction has reached an extreme level today—a state from which it is very difficult to break free. Children are the ones suffering the most, as they are easily captivated by the various games available on these devices. Parents bear some responsibility for this; in the past, children were kept occupied with active outdoor games, whereas today, mothers often hand over a mobile phone—playing cartoons or games—to quiet a crying child. Parents often resort to this to prevent their children from getting hurt or dirty while playing outside. Consequently, the mental and physical development of children is being severely compromised. Furthermore, people are becoming increasingly sedentary and confined to their homes, leading to the onset of various physical ailments.
To break free from this addiction, step out and embrace nature—talk to the trees or engage in art—where true joy lies; these activities will keep you mentally and physically healthy. Personally, I make it a point to immerse myself in nature whenever I find the time. Additionally, traveling can provide immense mental strength and offer real-world experiences; thus, traveling is another excellent way to overcome mobile phone addiction. Excessive mobile usage is a primary cause of the escalating issues regarding eye health and mental stress in today's world. So, stay healthy and keep your distance from this habit.
Answer to the question:
I use my mobile phone for about 5–6 hours a day. Aside from spending time in various Steemit communities, I use it to learn new things from Google and watch real-life videos on YouTube.
Since I am currently staying in a hostel away from home for my studies, my mobile phone serves as a companion during the breaks in my academic routine. It helps me unwind and keeps my mind free from worries. However, I do not like playing games or wasting time on idle communication. I prefer to lift my spirits by reading posts from various people on the Steemit platform and watching educational cartoon videos. I do spend time on social media, but these moments are not only enjoyable—they also help me learn a great deal.
- Spending time on regular exercise or walking can help keep one away from the screen.
- Gardening—specifically planting trees—is an activity I enjoy immensely whenever I have free time.
- Additionally, one can spend time playing sports or drawing. Personally, I enjoy gardening, drawing, and playing Ludo or chess during my spare time; these activities help reduce my mobile phone usage.
Physical and mental well-being depend significantly on reducing screen time. Doing so helps prevent eye problems, reduces mental stress, and alleviates ear fatigue.
To avoid excessive screen time, women at home can engage in gardening or various handicrafts during their free time. Meanwhile, men can participate in sports or other practical activities. Everyone should aim to reduce screen time to maintain both physical health and mental well-being.
