Nun ist es also so weit – das Jahr ist fast vorbei und die letzten Stunden verstreichen dann hoffentlich ganz unspektakulär. Mir wäre das nur recht, denn um ehrlich zu sein, bin ich für jede Minute dankbar, in der ich mal ein wenig zur Ruhe kommen darf. Während der Feiertage war wie bei den meisten von uns doch zu viel Gewusel, und auch das alte Jahr hat mich bis zuletzt irgendwie auf Trab gehalten. Umso mehr hoffe ich, dass der Start in das neue Jahr diesmal etwas entspannter verläuft und wir hier zumindest ein, zwei Tage lang mal einfach gar nichts machen können.

Der Winter hat sich bereits eher zurückgehalten – es hat bisher nur einmal ein wenig geschneit. Und das zum Glück nicht in dem Ausmaß, wie wir es zu dieser Jahreszeit eigentlich gewohnt sind. Normalerweise wären wir längst eingeschneit, doch bislang blieb uns das erspart und ich bin ganz froh, dass wir morgens noch ohne Schneeschaufel vor die Tür treten können. Aber der Winter wird sicher noch zeigen, was er kann – aber bitte nicht gleich in dieser Woche. Er darf sich ruhig noch ein wenig Zeit lassen.

Ich wünsche euch allen einen friedlichen, entspannten Jahresausklang. Genießt den letzten Tag des alten Jahres auf eure Weise – ob laut oder leise, in Gesellschaft oder ganz für euch. Und kommt gut rüber ins Neue. Wir sehen uns auf der anderen Seite.

Here we are - the year is almost over and hopefully the last few hours will pass without any drama. That would suit me just fine, because to be honest, I'm grateful for every minute I am able to relax. Like most of us, the holidays were a bit too hectic, and the old year kept me busy until the very end. All the more reason for me to hope that the start of the new year will be a little more chilled this time around and that we'll be able to just do nothing for at least a day or two.

Winter has been rather low-key so far – it's only snowed a little once. And luckily not at all to the extent we're used to at this time of year. Normally, we would have been snowed in long ago, but so far we have been spared the trouble. I am quite happy that we can still step outside in the morning without a snow shovel. However, winter will surely show what it can do – but please not this week. Please take your time.

I wish you all a peaceful and relaxed end to the year. Enjoy the last day of the old year in your own way – whether loud or quiet, in company or all by yourself. And have a good start to the new year. See you on the other side.
