Bitter Kola

Food is one of the things that humans can't do without. If given the opportunity, we will eat what we want at any given time. However, we are somehow limited with regard to what we can eat at any point in time. In most cases, the economic situation of where one lives can greatly limit what we can eat especially in this part of the world where I found myself -Africa.

Even at that, we can't do without food but we try to make the most use of our resources to get the best of the nutrients that our body needs. This past week that ended on 15th of November, I was able to vary what I ate as can be seen below

Food No. 1

white rice, banga stew and soyabean tea

The above image is White rice, with Banga stew, and soya bean tea. In this city where I live currently, banga is one of the cheapest to use in making source. It is easily available and economical to prepare. Only get the banga or Palm fruits, boil, water and Extra the liquid. Then add the little ingredients you have including protein of your choice, crayfish, ogiri okpei, spices and cubes of your choice. The ingredients depends on you. No much processes involved. I was able to prepare this and we enjoyed with the soya bean tea. Yes, I prepared the soya bean powder myself. You can see how yummy it looks!

Food No. 2

bitter Kola

It is not food but I ate it to control and balance my system. The fact is that I love eating it but not regularly but especially when I am traveling or in class. It helps me to stay awake and alert. It is better as the name implies - bitter Kola. Not everyone likes eating this but inam one of those that understands the health benefits and eat it regardless of it's taste. I bought the one of 500 naira (5 steem) while travelling though I just was able to finish 2 before getting to my destination. That was what I ate that afternoon and it served as a sustainer for me.

Food No. 3

afang soup and swallow

This is afang soup and swallow. Yes, I had to eat out because I travelled. I was very hungry when I got to my destination that evening. I couldn't prepare anything because my cooking utensils had been transferred to my current place of residence. I only have a few left.

However, there is no need to start cracking my brain of what to do. I and my husband decided to eat out. I wanted eating white soup but it was late, they already sold it all. My second choice was that afang soup and we ordered it. You can see it in the picture above, so yummy 😋!

Food No. 4

boiled plantain and onion source

Boiled unripe plantain and palm oil source. Yes, in the morning while still at my location, I reached out to the small plantain I kept, I bought palm oil and onion, reached out to my fresh pepper in my compound and utazi and prepare source. You can see how the plates I served it with is. Not presentable but that's the situation I found myself. It's just like going for a camping. What is available to you is what you will use. But trust me, I washed it thoroughly. The most important thing is that the food tastes delicious and it's healthy too

These where the highlights of the foods I ate last week. This week's highlight is loading.

Thank you so much for sharing your delicious food highlights. I really enjoyed reading about each meal you explained everything so beautifully. The white rice with banga stew and homemade soybean tea looks so comforting and full of flavor. Bitter kola may not be everyone’s choice, but it’s great that you enjoy it and use it for its benefits. The afang soup and swallow look absolutely yummy, and sometimes eating out is the perfect solution when you’re tired or traveling.I also loved the boiled plantain with onion and palm oil sauce. Even if the presentation wasn’t perfect, what matters most is the taste and the effort you put in with the limited things available. Your honesty and creativity really made this post enjoyable.
