Videography and Photography on My Birthday — Beauty in Black

This is a video that shows me moving from a sitting spot and strutting as if on a runway to another location.

Looking behind, you’ll notice a write up in the background that says “A new chapter” and that is absolutely true. This particular birthday was in many ways for me, a new chapter indeed. It shows my becoming, me finally letting go of self-doubt and just reaching for my goals.

The walk shows me finally being confident in my skills and ability, finally letting the world see me and being comfortable in the limelight. If I am coming into the Confident era, might as well have “A Classy Start”, that’s the next write up you see behind me as I end my walk. Everything I did for this video shoot was very significant and intentional for me personally.

For my photo shoot and videography, I reached out to my good friend who is a mobile photographer and content creator to schedule an appointment. He was more than happy to help me “slay my day” and offered up ideas and really great suggestions to make my dream come true.

I knew that I wanted to portray “boldness and confidence” for my birthday theme this year but I didn’t know how to go about putting the look together but my friend worked me through the entire process with some mood boards and everything else just fell into place. It was such a fun experience shooting this pictures and videos.

I decided to go with all black for my birthday photo shoot because black to me is a color that stands out boldly. For my new age, I wanted to portray confidence, strength, self-worth and boldness.

I went for the form-fitting gown to signify body positivity and love, the gloves and black hat shows elegance and class. My choice of accessories was also intentional. Pearl accessories give off this polished, refined and graceful energy and that’s exactly what I wanted. It also signifies maturity, the kind that comes with experience and over the years of my existence, I have become more wise in several ways so hence, “the pearls of wisdom. It also made me feel feminine and soft too which I loved.

My photographer chose an outdoor location because he wanted the bright contrast against my dark outfit and after seeing my pictures, I totally agree with him. While the outfit was giving strong, independent and confident lady, the location gave bright, playful and retro vibes.

This shows that I am not only coming into my “Bold” era but I am still growing and adapting to the world around me.
I am still fun-loving and in tune with my surroundings.
I love the fact that the setting had some greens around it, it had a sort of run-way for my to strut my walk, it was open air and it offered so many options and backgrounds at the same time so I had the option to switch background as much as I liked without being confined to just one.
