“SLC-S29/W1 | How to Photograph Mountains / Hills / Peaks by @max-pro”

Hello friends, hope everyone is well. Today I am here to participate in the engagement competition organized by @walictd & @cymolan. Their topic is very nice where today I will try to learn how to take pictures of mountains/hills/peaks. Many thanks to both of them for organizing such a wonderful engagement.

I think this topic is a very educational topic. Because here we can improve more about photography and gain knowledge about different skills of photography. Although I live in Bangladesh, generally there are very few hilly areas. The hilly areas of Bangladesh are only located in the hilly areas of Bandarban and Sylhet. It is 400-500 kilometers away from our area.

That is why I went to the peak of a vast village next to our village which everyone calls Tarafpur Red cly Hill. From here you can enjoy the natural beauty with a fresh breath as a small hill. For this competition, I have kept a specific subject as the center point, next to it the sun as the background spot.

I Tried To Understand The Landscape :-

This scene in the midst of green nature reveals a kind of vibrant beauty. Now if I am asked why I chose this place, I will say that it is such a vast place where there are no people. Here you can see the shape of the mountain all around and you can see some forest of trees next to it. Sometimes hundreds of people come to the top of this mountain to have a picnic. But I think this place is the best for adventure. Because sometimes this place is chosen for short films. Since it has appeared as a small hill next to the forest, people can sometimes be seen here.

I have captured some of the photographs below by paying attention to the visual balance. There is a mountain on the left side and there are trees on the right side, which I have kept as the center point. The soil under my feet is red soil. That is why it is called a red soil hill. Since it is winter, the soil is hard and appears from a distance.

What Is The Soil Like In Mountainous Areas?

Where I went, you can only see red soil and this soil is a little hard. Sometimes during the rainy season when the soil is wet, this mountain soil protects the surrounding nature. Because it is hard soil, it never collapses in water.

I found a clear angle of the soil under my feet. Then I exposed some part of that red soil from the front and used it as the subject. At the moment, I only kept the forest and mountains in the background. I placed the piece of soil in front of the right angle and blurred the background behind so that the subject is clear. This is a hilly area, so the soil is red. Everyone is familiar with the red soil hills of this Tarafpur area.

Display The Sun As A Background Subject :-

Since it is a hilly area, there are no people here. Sometimes it is scary to go to this area. However, there is a road along it where pedestrians walk and we bikers can take bikes. I took my bike to the highest peak to go to this place. The view from the top was incredibly beautiful. Since it was afternoon, I chose the sun in the background as the subject. The time before sunset is called golden hour photography.

At this time, the sun can be captured from the perfect angle. Since I visited a forest and a mountain, there were some small trees there. I set the leaves of the trees in front and the sun in the background as the background. Then I chose the sun as the subject and focused on the sun. These small works on the mountain will transform into a huge forest after a few days, so I made a small video. Where the sun was visible as the background.

What Time Is Best To Capture?

The sun always rises from the east, so the beauty of this mountain is revealed when the sunlight reflects on it. That is why I chose the afternoon time. Because there is a vast open space on the west side of this mountain. When the sun sets on the west side, the moment before it is 3:30 is illuminated and the red soil of the mountain is revealed. When the sunlight falls on the soil of the mountain, this soil looks like gold from a distance.

My younger brother and I went there, so we tried to take pictures of this red mountain soil from different angles. I took a few pictures from below with my younger brother on the mountain. Our main subject was the sun, which is the most attractive focal point. When the sunlight was falling on the soil of this mountain, it was a moment to capture the wonderful views.

Why Is There A Forest Type On This Mountain?

As I said before, the main mountains in Bangladesh are far from my reach. The largest mountains in Bangladesh are located in Bandarban and Sylhet. These are the most authentic mountains in Bangladesh where there is no forest, only high mountains. When you go to that area and take photographs, you can capture them from any angle. However, the place I went to is a rural mountain. However, some unscrupulous businessmen are cutting down these mountains and destroying the environment. However, they have planted small trees like the trees in the forest on the mountains.

That is why from a distance it seems that a lot of forests have been created on the mountains. When you look at them from a distance from under the open sky, you will think that there are countless trees on the mountains. However, there are small trees here that are located on high mountains. Therefore, these are called small forest type mountains on rural mountains.

Let's Say Goodbye To The Red Clay Mountains 🤟

It was an adventure moment for me. I took my younger brother on a bike and had already decided on this place. Since it is a rural hill, I saw a few people here in the afternoon who were cutting wood from the nearby forest. However, the place sometimes feels like a forest, especially at night, no one can go through this place for fear.

Since it is a red clay hill, the soil here is red in color. If you want, you can color your own house with this soil. My younger brother and I were standing on the red clay hill. I was saying goodbye to this red clay hill and trying to understand the charm of the hill by raising my hands. The red soil under my feet was beautiful.
