Panggoi -Banda Masen Bridge
Hello Steemians
I’m glad to share a small part of my daily journey with you. This time, I would like to introduce a suspension bridge located in my area as my entry for this week chalenge Held by
@walictd , a place that I pass almost every day on my way to school. More than just an alternative route, this bridge offers calm scenery, fresh air, and a unique visual experience that makes every trip feel different and enjoyable.
This suspension bridge is located in my area and has become an important part of my daily routine. It serves as an alternative route for me when going to school, connecting Panggoi Village with Banda Masen, in the Banda Sakti district of Lhokseumawe. Unlike the main roads in the city, this route offers a calmer atmosphere, free from traffic jams and police checkpoints, making every journey feel lighter and more enjoyable.

The bridge stands in the middle of a local fishpond area owned by residents. Beneath it flows a small river that changes with nature’s rhythm. Sometimes the river is dry, and at other times it fills with water, depending on the tides of the nearby sea. Because the bridge is located very close to the estuary, the influence of seawater can be clearly felt. This dynamic condition adds a unique character to the landscape and makes each visit slightly different from the last.

Built in 2022, the bridge is relatively new and well maintained. Its sturdy steel structure, combined with symmetrical frames and railings, creates strong visual lines that are very interesting for photography. When standing in the middle of the bridge, the guide lines naturally draw the eyes forward, giving a sense of depth and distance. From certain angles, the bridge looks long and firm, perfectly blending function and aesthetic value.

In terms of design, the bridge emphasizes symmetry and efficiency. The red steel towers at both ends function as the main support structures, while the straight alignment of the cables and frames creates strong guide lines that lead the viewer’s eyes from one end to the other. This symmetrical layout not only increases structural balance but also gives the bridge a clean and modern appearance. From a photographic point of view, the design makes the bridge look long, sturdy, and visually dynamic.

From the side view, the construction of this suspension bridge appears even more solid and well planned. The bridge is supported by reinforced concrete abutments on both ends, which function as the main foundation holding the steel structure above. These concrete bases are built with stone-filled retaining walls, designed to resist soil pressure and erosion, especially considering the bridge’s location near tidal waters and fishpond areas.

From a design perspective, the bridge prioritizes functionality over ornament, yet still maintains an appealing appearance. The straight lines of the steel frames and cables reflect efficiency and balance, while the elevated concrete embankments protect the bridge from flooding and water movement during high tide. This structural arrangement makes the bridge suitable for long-term daily use by local residents.
 | The River in the morning |
 | In the afternoon |
This river under the Panggoi suspension bridge is a tidal river surrounded by green mangrove trees. In the morning, the water is usually low and the muddy ground can be seen clearly. At noon and in the afternoon, the water rises again because of the sea tide. Sometimes it looks like a small river, and sometimes like a swamp, but it is still an important part of the natural environment. This place gives a calm and beautiful view for people who pass the bridge.
Here are the detail
Overall, this bridge demonstrates a thoughtful integration of engineering and environment. It is designed to withstand coastal conditions while remaining safe, stable, and visually clean. Seen from this angle, the bridge truly represents modern rural infrastructure, simple, strong, and perfectly adapted to its surroundings.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I truly appreciate any feedback, comments, or suggestions from fellow Steemians. See you in my next post, and happy exploring.
