Case Study

This week, I will share a case study in which we will discuss a disease, its symptoms, causes, and the physiotherapy protocol to cure it. But your challenge would be to find another disease and diagnose that. After that, you have to share the further details like symptoms, causes, and treatment protocol.

Case

A 42-year-old housewife presented with a 5-month history of heel pain, especially in the early morning and prolonged standing. The patient also complains of tightness or sometimes swelling in the sole of the foot that aggravates with activities. Patient's symptoms are relieved after taking rest and medication.

Symptoms

So, if we wrote the symptoms of the patient are as follows:

  • Patient feels pain and tightness in the heel and sole of the foot especially medially.
  • There is more pain and tightness in the morning, and after prolonged standing or sitting.
  • Patient pain decreases with activity and rest.
  • On assessment, we find a symptom of tenderness or pain on the sole of the foot and heel region.
  • Sometimes trigger points are present as well.

Causes

The common causes of plantar fasciitis:

  • Overusing the fascia of the foot, namely the plantar fascia.
  • Not using good or medicated footwear like heels, flat shoes, etc.
  • Sometimes, suddenly doing a different work or activity while performing activities.
  • Bone spur formation

Assessment

First, we have to assess the symptoms and causes, then thoroughly assess the heel, the sole of the foot and the tendons of the ankles. Then, after finding at least 4 symptoms, we can confirm the diagnosis and it's plantar fasciitis.

Also assess the gait of the patient while walking and the ankle range of motion. Check the muscle strength by performing resistive exercise and then focus on strengthening the foot muscles.

Physical Therapy Intervention

The most common and effective treatment protocol used in physiotherapy for plantar fasciitis is the icing and rolling of the foot on the ball with stretching. In this, we focus on stretching of the plantar fascia, Achilles Tendon and ankle muscles to improve ROM and pain.

Challenge
  • Task 1: You have to find a case study like I have shared, then confirm the diagnosis of the disease, and then add 3 to 4 causes.
  • Task 2: You have to share symptoms of your patient history and confirm that diagnoses of the given cases study. .
  • Task 3: You have to find the best protocol for any disease and then perform the exercises of your specific task. It would be better to perform the exercises and share videos or pictures while performing and then review after getting treatment. (Try to use 3 methods).

Note

I didn't ask you to share the given diagnosis in the challenge post, you have to find another disease and then share all the details including physical therapy management.

Hi @ashkhan, I am a regular participants of your challenge. But, this week, I am busy, learning a new things. See you next week.

Sin duda me voy a unir esta semana, pues justamente estoy en un proceso de fascitis plantar ya que tengo un espolón óseo.
Saludos!!

Thank you, dear, but I didn't ask for this disease. Only you can share other diseases that can be cured with physical therapy.

Ok, gracias por la información!

Hello @ashkhan

Do you mean we still need to write about plantar fasciitis, because it's seems what is written here contradicts a bit with the question anasuleidy asked

Task 3: You have to find the best protocol for plantar fasciitis and then perform the exercises of your specific task. It would be better to perform the exercises and share videos or pictures while performing and then review after getting treatment. (Try to use 3 methods).

Oh my mistake. I will edit that. Thanks for the correction.

Okay, that's fine

Hello fellow steemians i have also posted my challenge and it was exciting to participate in this challenge. I hope i have followed the rules very well.
