๐๏ธโ๐จ๏ธ Viewly ๐๏ธโ๐จ๏ธ Blockchain Video ๐๏ธโ๐จ๏ธ FAQ (with updates from @furion)
What is Viewly?
Viewly is a decentralized video platform. It combines the benefits of blockchain technology with streaming internet video.

What technology is this based on?
No existing technology is suitable for what we have planned, so the system is being designed from the ground up.
What happened to SteemQ?
SteemQ was purely conceptual and ultimately the Steem blockchain did not prove a good match for video streaming. So a far more ambitious project was envisioned, which we now call Viewly.
Will there be a cyptocurrency?
Yes, there will be VIEW tokens which will be rewarded to content creators and curators on the platform.
How do I earn VIEW tokens?
Ultimately these tokens will be earned by posting original content on Viewly. Right now there is no way to earn VIEW tokens, but soon you be able to earn bounty rewards.
Sign up at the Bounty Rewards page and see how you can get involved.
Can I help test Viewly?
Yes. You can help us test the platform by uploading videos to our test servers at https://alpha.view.ly/
So my videos will be stored on the blockchain?
Not exactly. Video files are far to big, so we only store parity information to ensure the integrity of the videos.
Will there be mining/witnesses?
There will be a decentralized hosting market, but not for a while.
Why do my videos not post with my name?
Viewly is currently in a very early alpha testing phase so all uploads to Steemit happen through @useruploads. User accounts are coming soon, though.
What about copyright protected material?
Copyrighted videos will be flagged and removed according to the discretion of the owner of each node, but of course they will be personally liable for any material which infringes on copyright.

Exclent post, very informative!
Thanks, @patrickm, this is what we've been waiting for with D5. Very exciting.

Looking forward to posting my videos on view.ly - @deimus thanks for all the information
It's amazing the amount of applications and benefits from the blockchain technology
I know, right! Video is the most exciting thing for me, though. I joined Steemit when a friend showed me a video from @brian-rhodes about SteemQ.
I've got very high hopes for this team, the platform is up and running and all the important concerns are being addressed.
Excellent - I look forward to how this progresses. Great initiative. Steem on!
More exciting developments are coming soon!
Can't wait for Viewly to be up and running - will prepare some kick ass videos in the meantime. Have some great ideas
Brilliant, can't wait to see what you come up with!
Looks like Viewly is gonna be a great platform! I can't wait to see the other developments. Just realised that @furion is Nature's Prophet. :D
Heh, yeah, but I don't think he plays any more. Too busy coding Viewly!
Yeah, Viewly is going to be amazing for music videos!
VERY interesting project @deimus. I am watching with very keen eyes!!
You seen dtube @deimus? it is also a decentralised video platform. you may have some collaboration opportunities here!

Healthy competition is always good. However, based on the discussions on the telegram group I'm confident that @furion and the Viewly team are much further along in terms of resolving the more complex issues - like token distribution, copyright infringement and illegal content.
Aside from that, I feel that they are receptive to feedback which is a major priority for us as content providers.
Sounds great! good to hear viewly is tackling more complex issues! The more ways to decentralize videos (in 5) hehe the better for the long run as far as i am concerned!
Great job on this @deimus . I'm working on a version of it too.
Have followed you @steemitqa
Tyyyyyy!!!!!!
Excellent! Let me know when you've posted and we can combine them.
Thanks for keeping us informed on what's coming next!
