Succulent Garden

There are eight gardens in the Flower Dome. One of them is the succulent garden. This is where you find desert plants, and succulents belonging to families such as Cacti, Aloes and Crassulas. You can learn about these prickly plants without having to put up with the heat of the desert.

Succulents are water-storing plants belonging to many different families, such as cacti, aloes, crassula and many others. They have the unique quality to store water in their leaves and stems. That is why they can survive and thrive in areas that have little access to water – like in the desert where water is a precious commodity and has to be preserved.

While there's a difference between cacti and succulents, they're also closely related. "Cactus" denotes a botanical family. Succulents are a broader group referring to a type of plant included in several botanical families. While all cacti are considered to be succulents, not all succulents are cacti.

These are some pictures of cacti and succulents from the Succulent Garden in the Flower Dome. Thanks to the signs beside the plants, and with a little help from Google lens, I was able to identify these images.
