After a few years we could make it to the Madu Church in Mannar as a family, altogether with relatives. It was a pilgrimage of two days to there. We departed from home around 4 am with all the luggages.

Usually we bring everything needed to cook and things needed to live in a house when we go to Madu Church as we stay more than a day, also with many relatives. The majority of cooking stuff were sponsored by my mother so we had to help her with packing them. We packed our bags around 1-2 am before leaving right after at 4 am. We did not sleep that day.

This is what I simply packed for myself.

Sadly we had to left our dog behind, but our next door people had looked after him as he had cried louder. When it was the time to leave I gave our dog some snacks to distract him. All was well, but the only thing is there's someone missing the homies and cry.

We headed to a reatives' place to pick them up. There are many young cousins for me. So the luggages did fully invade the space as little ones need extra things. I was having little chit chats with my little cousins on the way those age from 4 to 7. The youngest cousin is 2 and half years old.

Our next plan was to go to Anuradhapura to pick some of our relatives living there. We reached there around 7-8 am and they joined us from the Jaffna junction which is not really located in Jaffna. I met my cousin brother from there who is one year younger than me to accomapany with.

We were lacking space due to heavy packings of everybody. Anyhow we managed the remained space.

After a while we stopped by the road to have our breakfast. We had brought bread and rice and curry. I did not eat much. Without knowing we had stopped by a school in Vavniya, but we entered there and it was an empty property without any school, only the name board in front. We met a few puppies there starving to death, so we fed them some food but they were scared of us. I hope they ate the food after we left. We started the journey again.

After eating I was asleep and I can not remember the rest till we reached Kaththar church, which is also in Mannar. Before going to Madu Church we went there and prayed. Kaththar church in Mannar, Sri Lanka is also famous specially among Catholics as a pilgrimage site. This church also has a long history which makes it one of the oldest churches in Sri Lanka. The church is surrounded by paddyfields. We had group photos there and got on to the bus to start the journey again.

On the way, we went somewhere else too. Even though it is a two day journey it included many things. Till the next post...
