Tech Blog #248 | Samsung Galaxy A57 : Almost the Same Since the A52...

The Samsung Galaxy A57 is one of those upgrades that doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel. It just refines everything that already worked. At first glance, it looks familiar, but once you get into the details, you start to see where #Samsung actually put the effort, or not.

The phone is now thinner and lighter at around 6.9 mm and 179 g, and more importantly, it finally brings back IP68 water and dust resistance to the A-series. But that alone doesn't make it feel closer to the most mid-range devices that even have IP69K. Samsung A series is far behind the game because they've been modifying the same scripts since , like 4 years.

Up front, you get a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and up to 1900 nits brightness. It is not a radical change on paper, but the slimmer bezels and panel upgrade make it feel more premium in hand. This is still one of Samsung’s strongest areas. The display is sharp, bright, and just very reliable for everything from scrolling to watching content.

Performance gets a noticeable bump with the #Exynos 1680 chipset, paired with 8 GB or 12 GB RAM and up to 512 GB storage. That extra headroom matters, especially with Samsung pushing more AI features into mid-range devices. It is not a gaming beast, but for everyday use, multitasking, and long-term smoothness, this is a solid step forward compared to previous A-series phones.

The camera setup is where you can see the similar to that of the great old A52. You still get a 50 MP main camera with OIS, a 12 MP ultrawide, and a 5 MP macro, plus a 12 MP front camera. So no big hardware upgrade here. The improvements come more from processing and tuning rather than new sensors. That means consistent results, but if you were expecting a major camera leap, it is not happening this year.

Battery life still remains with a 5000 mAh battery and 45 W fast charging. Nothing flashy, but it gets the job done easily for a full day and beyond. What really stands out instead is Samsung’s software commitment. The A57 ships with #Android 16 and One UI 8.5, and Samsung is promising six years of updates, which is honestly one of the best in this segment.

So what’s the real story here? The Samsung Galaxy A57 is not about big headline features. It is about a few refinements. You get a better chip, slimmer design, flagship-level durability, a great display, and industry-leading software support. But at the same time, the upgrades feel incremental, especially in the camera department.

This is a phone that plays it safe, but plays it smart. If you are coming from an older A-series device, it makes a lot of sense. If you are expecting something bold or groundbreaking, this one is not trying to be that.
