Steem Expedition 2.0 Everyday Routes: Corners with Art and Color

In the familiar routines of busy life, we walk past so many beauties, yet we avoid them in the blink of an eye. When the monotony of everyday life is suddenly broken and a swarm of bright colors and perfect hands suddenly appears before our eyes, our minds instantly become better. Launches and ships are one of the main means of transportation for thousands of people every day in this riverine Bangladesh. Rivers and watercraft are inextricably linked to the lives of people, especially in the coastal areas. Since I am in the village at the moment, today I welcome you to a unique artistic aquatic canvas of my familiar route, where the festival of colors has become one with the silver water of the river.

Traditional folk art on launches and ships

2. Exact address and directions to its location, or where it is commonly found. Mark it on Google Maps and add it to your atlas.
  • Address: Heed Dockyard, Bhola Kheyaghat Road, Bhola Sadar, Bhola
  • Transportation: Bhola Kheyaghat Road can be easily reached from any part of Bhola city by rickshaw, easy bike, or motorcycle. These beautiful scenes can be seen along the small canals and rivers that flow alongside this road.

3. General description of the place or artwork. Facilities, entrance fees, hours, rules, atmosphere, and if any merchandise is for sale, details of prices and payment methods (all applicable details depending on the selected place).

The Bhola Kheyaghat area is a very important place for the local people to travel and do business, which is the area of my in-laws' house. This place has no price tag; it is a completely open canvas. The water environment is full of noise on the riverbank—the presence of small and large launches and ships in the river, trawlers and boats moving through the small canals. This water-based Khichuri focuses on portraying the rural scenery, natural beauty, and various blackened designs in bright colors. The plaque is transformed into a living canvas by local craftsmen with the touch of large pataka colors of steel and iron, which catches the eyes of passers-by even from a distance.

4. Your personal experience or anecdotes related to the selected place or artwork.

When I was visiting Bhola Kheyaghat yesterday as part of my journey, I saw this small canal leading to the river. Several ships and launches floating on the docks and boats displayed such a deep artistic and colorful scene that I felt it in my heart. The way to know about other folk arts of our country, do not think it is a problem to talk about the craftsmen on the floating art of this river path. When I myself deeply changed the picture of this song, a living story of our neglected culture was being painted in my mind. This is not just a journey, it is a floating exhibition of our folk arts.

Task 2

What most appeals to you about this place or this work of art?

The bold use of colors (such as bright red, blue, dark green and yellow) on the launches and ships anchored in the small canals and the perfect hand strokes of ordinary artists without any formal education attract me the most. The contrast and beauty of the way our rural atmosphere and colors come alive in the huge iron body amidst this calm environment by the riverbank grabs my attention.

Capturing the rich culture and colorful heritage of riverine ships

How does this touch of art change the mood of your daily routine?

When I come to visit the village, looking at the colorful ships in the breeze of this riverside on the Kheyaghat road, my mind instantly feels better. These bright colors and aquatic environment remove all the fatigue in the mind and bring a kind of freshness. It is like a piece of color festival in the midst of my daily routine.

Seeking blessings and guidance through beautiful craftsmanship (Allahu)

Do you think art and color are important to the people who walk by there every day?

Excellent question! I think it is very important. Thousands of ordinary people, farmers, businessmen, and employees travel along this Kheyaghat road every day. Their life struggle is very difficult and hard. When they see these beautiful, colorful scenes and paintings on the riverbank on their way, an aesthetic joy is subconsciously created in their minds, which reduces their fatigue to some extent.

A glimpse of traditional river life and beautiful ship artistry

If you were the artist, what other detail or color would you add to this place to make it even more special to you?

If I had the opportunity to paint these ships and launches, I would have depicted the traditional scenes as well as the heritage of our island district of Bhola—such as the buffalo herds of Bhola, the story of the hilsa of Meghna, or the coastal nature of the Sundarbans—on a larger canvas in a combination of dark blue, gold, and green. In this way, people travelling along this route and passengers coming from far and wide could visually experience our own heritage of Bhola more deeply while travelling.

Conclusion

In my opinion, there are thousands of colorful stories hidden in the familiar routine around us. The colorful launches and ships floating on the riverbed of this Kheyaghat road in Bhola remind us that no matter how mechanical life is, art has no boundaries. The water of the river and these folk colors come together and write the story of a new Bangladesh every day. I have tried to beautifully portray the exploration of the colors and scenery of the waterways through this participation post of mine.
