SteemDev Project: Showing Number of Users

For some days now, I have been doing a lot of research on how to get to the backend of the whole steem blockchain. Isn't that the joy of every programmer? To get to the backend of everything,even if it's not software. So, I finally had to enter via an api that is very very limited in the amount of data and operations you 'll have access to on the steem blockchain.
I am yet to figure out, above all, how to post remotely from my home server but then they allowed some entry which aren't all properly documented while restricting us on a bunch of other operations. Nevertheless, I wish someone will just point the easy way to a php programmer like me. @klye's [LIST OF API METHODS] and @dragosroua's Steem PHP TOOLS have really been helpful though but then, there seems to be a sense of pre-maturity in the air in terms of access.
Nevertheless, I couldn't work much. I'm sick and on drugs. Malaria , of course. So I could only come up with this after some hours of editing @dragosroua's script to fit my local server (WAMP) specs and then reading a lot of documentation some of which didn't pertain to what I wanted.
My hope is that steemdevs will allow more access and document better.
Like I said, this is just an experiment to check if the api and nodes are working.
Before, I leave this page , I really have to extend my condolences to @surpassinggoogle for the demise of his mum, really painful. I really don't know what to say but then ,i am really inspired by how you responded to the occurence by being positive. Please, continue to keep her acts of love alive like you said. Just know we love you too. The whole Nigerian Steem Community is right behind you. Loving you like crazy.
I used the steemd.steemgigs.org RPC node for my little experiment. I hope to improve more on it and make it a real project as time goes on and as the steemdevs opens the gate wider.
The Experiment is here and the only thing it does for now is to show the present number of accounts on steemit (growing by the minute) and then the total number of witnesses.
Like I Said the people are really registering , you need to see how the number of registrants were changing as I coded. lemme show a 3 hour interval snapshot.
