Steem post scheduler - do we want it?

in #steem6 years ago (edited)

I'd love someone to build a Steem post scheduler, similar to Buffer or Hootsuite. Does this exist? Every single "normal" (aka mainstream) social media platform has this feature. Is the Steem community against this type of automation? Heck, we already have a bot problem.

Question for you

If I built a tool like this...would you be willing to pay for it or would you expect it to be free? If you'd pay, how much would you pay each month (in USD)?

I want to help Steem gain mass adoption. Certain aspects of social media don't yet exist on this platform that are needed to attract that adoption. Also, love it or hate it, advertisers will want to tap in to the user base and information available in the Steem blockchain. They aren't here yet, but if Steem is to become successful...they will be.

Tell me what you think in the comments!

PS: I should mention that I see that www.SteemAuto.com has had a scheduler on their website, but unavailable, for quite some time now. I wonder if they plan to release it to the public. Also, does anyone know how SteemAuto.com generates revenue (besides their semi-frequent Steem posts)?

Wow, and that fast, someone just pointed me to https://streemian.com/. Does anyone have experience with this platform to schedule posts??

Altho, they don't use SteemConnect....https://streemian.com/register

Another update! I just logged back in to SteemAuto and see that their auto-scheduler is working now. Has anyone used it??

This feature is already available in the esteem app.

Great idea. I think there are a lot of tools, like direct messaging, that could aid in mass adoption. I don't think people are going to want to pay...but advertising would be a great way to offset costs if we could ever incorporate that into the platform.

great idea...ads could work on the site too. I agree with you, having ppl pay a monthly fee probably won't work.

PS. I look forward to meeting you at cryptolina!

I probably wouldn't use it, but I'm not fancy. I can see how it would be really useful to folks that provide a consistent repetitive product (podcasts, market updates, etc).

yeah, imagine if you were a brand (podcaster, active blogger, etc). Most serious content creators spend a few hours once a week to schedule all of their posts so that they don't have to do it every single day.

Yeah, I can imagine how that would really start to affect productivity.

I don't really have use for it now, but the more I listen to your podcast and read your posts and think about your ideas, the more I'd like to try them.

Not to sound sappy, but this space and you specifically are inspiring me to move more into digital relevance. Thanks.

Hi @ashe-oro
I think there could be a market for it. But I won't be using it. I am more the type of guy who does not plan to write a post. It just happens. While I do understand that timing is crucial to get as much attention as possible!
So, yes I do think that there is a market for such tool out there!

On the financial part, I wouldn't go for it fix monthly fee. Maybe a business set up where you get some beneficiary rewards would be better. This way you would get some hard earned money per post and this give the users the possibility to use it for some post, while not using it for other posts!
I do guess that most authors who will be using this functionality will write decent posts with great earnings, which could mean that you would earn a lot more this way than with a paid subscription!

Great thinking, how it works out fine for you!

Cheers,
Peter

interesting, so rather than a monthly cost, maybe take a 5% commission on the author rewards (similar to how @dtube takes a 25% cut)?

Yep. I do believe that is taking a fair cut for the service you will be offering! Most of the authors do write great post and do want to get them to trending! And we all know the only way to achieve this 😂
So more money for you!
But of course could be wrong and a flat monthly rate could be more rewarding!

I noticed that the eSteem desktop app has scheduling built into it.

Well I think it would be a good idea.

Wait do I really understand what a post scheduler mean?

In my own point of view, I think it means a site that allows you to make so many posts and schedule when u want them posted on steemit automatically right?

If that's what it is then I would continue by saying that it is a good initiative but would poelle really want to make use of it if they have to pay to use it. I would suggest that if be free for some period of time and when it rains traction, you can now request to be paid for.

As for steemauto. I dint know what their plan is though.

Everyone wants it.

Yes, there is. And there's more than one group working on these solutions already. Another awesome thing would be steem + IFTTT.
