Have I got this right? I transfer my Steem Dollars to Bittrex. Sell it for Bitcoin. Then transfer Coinbase. Finally, sell it and have it transferred to a Paypal account. I am from the UK.

No you have it wrong. You transfer them to Steem and powerup :)

Just wanted to be smartass sorry for that :) Better to convert to currencies that have lower transaction fees like Litecoin. Checkout @blocktrades for more info
