Steemians are their own worst enemy! STOP FLAGGING EACH OTHER! Start Up Voting Good Content Instead!
I notice a new problem here. Constant flagging by those who think they have more power than someone else they disagree with. Which creates a flag war, which just wastes a bunch of RC/VP on nothing! Then people feel upset, hurt, fearful, and ultimately just leave! Some Steemians have decided it is their job to make people not want to be on here. If you disagree with someone, make a comment. Tell them why! But to just flag them and make them disappear from the platform is stupid! We already have it tough enough getting new members here, we don't need to be destroying each other!
Why do people do it? They think because they have more SP they are the Steem Police. They get into an argument or find someone they want to target they disagree with and before they even engage with them instantly begin down voting them. I'm not suggesting down votes are NEVER justified, there are times, but to start and lead with that just makes people scared to talk. That is not a censorship free environment and does not draw new members in!
New members will almost all have lower SP than the established Steemians. This means they are at fear of talking here, especially after their first flag for no reason! Just because someone disagrees with them and has more SP. Honestly I think Down Voting should be removed! It adds ZERO value to the platform and should just be "hide/block user" instead! They should still be allowed to have their voice even if you do not agree with it! Down votes steal wealth from new users and existing members since those who down vote are not up voting good content.
Curation is about getting the best to rise to the top! NOT about pushing the bad or what you disagree with to the bottom, that is censorship! Let them have their voice and debate them! Let people see they are stupid for themselves if you believe they are! Learn to debate in the public forum and up vote those who you feel provide good content here! WHY are some still wasting their RC/VP down voting? It is not productive and ultimately makes it impossible to have a real opinion unless you are rich here. Only the rich get free speech? That is not a very good concept in my opinion!
I wrote about this 8 months ago but apparently people still feel down voting is worth their time: https://steemit.com/steemit/@bigdeej/why-down-vote-when-you-can-up-vote-around
Dear @bigdeej, as usual you are the king Salomon in this community, your post are always taking the main problems of Steemit, of course if you got over 2000 upvotes a meaning should be. I follow you always with my full support
Thank you so much! If you can and would like to help others you can make a donation of any amount at any time to @deejcharitytrust. 100% of funds are donated and used to support great causes, minnows, and new users that really deserve it!
I agree, we should offer a helping hand to all the other users here in this tough time instead of making it even more tougher for them . Good initiative @bigdeej
Hello @bigdeej, thank you for sharing this creative work! We just stopped by to say that you've been upvoted by the @creativecrypto magazine. The Creative Crypto is all about art on the blockchain and learning from creatives like you. Looking forward to crossing paths again soon. Steem on!
Thank you for taking the time to read my post! It makes it all worth it to spend time teaching others when I see even 1 person that it helps out!
Flagging abuse should have been addressed a lont time ago, but it wasn't and rarely is. The result of runaway flaggers is that many good content creators have left the platform. Nobody appointed these "Steem Police" but yet they continue to think they own the platform, and some with hidden agendas (that goes for Bots also). I and many others have already powered down, and I am in the process of writing my final (and most scathing) post as I no longer want to participate in what has become a scam of a platform. Not quite sure? Then know this... https://justpaste.it/1jpbl
I wrote a lot about this over the last few weeks after HF20 fucked us up badly. I agree there is something going on inside the steemit hq that they are trying to control the platform. Problem is when all the people who power up leave the new people won't have any reason to power up and the platform will die. They can sit and circle jerk all they want but it won't change the facts.
I agree. I know many that have already left because of the unfairness of it all. Steemit was not designed as a social media network, but as a blogging platform. It has been taken over by pirates (bullies and bots) and in my opinion, many users are simply frustrated. I have already powered down and have left just enough (VP) to throw in my .02 cents worth from time to time.
Check my wallet ;) you will see a pattern among all dolphins and mini whales... Only the giant blue whales and founders are staying up! Minnows and plankton are leaving because they can't earn and get frustrated and the rest of us middle classers are just fed up with the constant changing of rules that FUCK us.. I wrote about this extensively and even went directly to ned's blog to call him out, which got downvoted go figure! Yet I was right and he later admitted what I called this HF20 bullshit to be! They now want to make it so you can't earn from posting, only curation rewards... So just make 2 accounts and circle jerk some more? WHO wants that? I invested a LOT into this platform between time, development, servers, nodes, teaching others, recruiting, and powering up only to have the rules changed over night and the rug pulled out from under me.. They are just trying to maintain their control of the platform and in the process making anyone with less than 1 million SP want to leave and/or give up all together.
Yup, one big circle jerk. Curation is totally dominated by Bots, so what is the point? This platform will be dead soon. And if not dead, it will be on life support for a long time. I just hope the price of Steem gets pumped by somebody so I can get rid of it on my exchange.
