Trader vs Buy/Hold Mentality

With the recent and massive gains in crypto tokens I am struggling between the Trader vs Buy/Hold Mentality. To me a trader mentality is when massive gains/loss is achieved then all positions are liquidated to keep all profits. The Buy/Hold mentality is when massive gains are achieved, you keep holding the position or liquidate some just in case more gains are ahead.

Usually when I reach 100% return, I sell half my position to get initial investment and let the rest ride. By letting it ride, the funds are tied up and you have less capital to acquire other crypto tokens

What are your thoughts? What strategy works best for you?

i do the same thing i sell when i can get investment back and then hold rest and sell slowly on the rise. Reason i do this is i feel i can get greater profit from then then having some coins sit there and loss value or only go up slowly.

I have never tried selling into the rise. There have been many times in the stock and crypto market where I sold half of my position after 100% return only to lose track of it and end up giving back the gains. Thanks for sharing !

i have also done this and it is when i started to sell in to the rise and sell out over bit to gain the profit. There is only a few coins i hodl for a long time.

Im going to start holding longer, i sold my BCN position at 27sat and it went up 300% over the next 3 days! i has 30,000BCN when i sold and lost out on about $1500 in profit :(
