Real Value of Steem Based on True Performance

Many coins go up and down based on news and hype. Market cap is used to compare the various coins. While market cap is a very important tool, it can be manipulated by pump and dump schemes that we are all aware of. At Block'tivity you can see the actual blockchain activity. Which coins are seeing actual traffic. They are all compared to Bitcoin as the standard by which all are measured.
What is shocking is how much traffic is passing through Steem as compared to all other coins. The "Activity Valuation Index" (AVI) shows that Steem currently outperforms Bitcoin in raw traffic by a factor of 1,582 compared to its price valuation. That number is staggering. It hints that Steem may be undervalued by the market. It could be for any number of reasons. I think we need to keep expanding the number of people who participate in Steem. At some point the market will take notice of this disparity and a proper valuation should occur.
To my fellow Steemians, think twice before getting into these flame wars. You may think what you are doing is justified but you are only hurting the brand. We have a remedy on Steem to avoid these issues. It is the "Mute" button. If you find someone offensive, just mute that member and you will not be bothered by their offensive content. I find it makes for a much more enjoyable experience on Steem. I would suggest using it very sparingly so you do not wind up existing in a self made bubble. Hearing different viewpoints can help us challenge our own assumptions and is needed for growth.
I am not a finance guy by any means. I think the tech guys can expand on what the Block'tivity AVI numbers tell us. Come on tech geniuses, let me hear from you below.

Now that the finance guys are involved in the crypto world how much of this is manipulation?
While the financial institutions can manipulate the price, Block'tivity is showing actual blockchain traffic. This should represent actual usage of the site as apposed to temporary price manipulation.
I am not a tech guy too but i see your post as a true eye opener to the true potentials of steem. Going by your analysis i see steem competing with major cryptos in future. Thanks for the education.

Keep up the good work, I think Steemit will overrun facebook at a time so of course we will have a rise of steem and SBD values !
I wonder about that because facebook seems so different. There's no effort that needs to be done on facebook except maybe paying the most for facebook ads. On steemit there's a certain finesse and knowledge that is needed to do well. I do hope it does make facebook look small though one day!!!
So you're saying with finesse and knowledge we can't get over simple ads ? That's a bit pessimistic ! Capitalism has brainwashed so many people to believe that, don't be like them ! I know we're in a dictatorship of fake and shallow things, where cleverness, science and intelligence are viewed as something not good and distraction and stupid ads are viewed as a great anesthetizing way to control people's brains, still you don't have to be scared about the fact we make more efforts, I'm confident it will get us to a point where we deserve to be sooner than what you think, efforts always pay, it's not because you need to make more efforts that you won't get it, I believe these efforts are like the efforts that are made to launch a spaceship ! We'll go to the moon and further! And let's not think too much about them, they will keep on rotting with their ads, at the end of the day the one who makes more efforts to evolve will overtake the other old static way of monetizing stupid ads, believe me ! :D
I agree 100%!! I can't wait for Steem to overtake! It is hard to look past the brainwashing that's going on, when you're watching people you know stay brainwashed and won't listen.

No problem, I always try to analyze every aspect of it, especially issues like that! Of course you have people you know not following us, but I'm sure for 1 people I knew who refused, I found 100 new people on here, interesting new friends, who followed this terrific idea ! And I'm sure they will all end up following, even if some don't, they will surely miss something great. One other terrific thing is I have never seen something (the crypto world and all the ICOs launching full of hopes) taking so much of my time and motivation before, because there's so much positive energy and enthusiasm in this crypto world, it's crazy, you have to think that can overtake mountains in the long term :D

Unfortunately, people are focusing on "easy" money coins. In order to earn steem, you have to contribute to the blockchain. There are many alt coins out there that promise the sky without any actual value in it. Maybe one day people would realise the actual value of steem, but for now it would be just us striving to make this platform great.
