RE: Should I upvote my own content?

in #steem8 years ago

I can see a potential of abuse of the "active" section. If I have a good post but getting a little stale, if I just upvote onw of the comments, it goes right back up.

So nobody frowns upon taking the curator's reward of your own post?

It's impossible to prevent upvoting of ones own posts I think, and it would be meaningless to have a social consensus against it. The fact that one can bump strategically by upvoting even a single comment makes abuse possible (just create more and more accounts and you can bump indefinitely), so that needs to be dealt with somehow. The most essential problem for now is likely the "active" algorithm which needs to be more involved.

How about making active only on comments? Since spam comment can easily spotted and downvoted by the community.

I downvoted by mistake dantheman !!! (and he get +$0.65 !!!)

But we should keep the upvote for the post itself(?)...no for the same reason?

PS
IDEA !!! We can keep continue to push upvoted content to the top with one CRITERIA... only if pending payout more than $1 or something like that !!!

That is what we are thinking of doing.

It wouldn't be meaningless no. People could downvote based on that and it would then be counterproductive to do it. I don't know what the actual social consensus on this is or would be. I guess that will evolve in time.
