consequences just ahead
It is said that the consequences of posting things to the internet and more especially social media should be thought of as carefully as getting a tattoo.
Not all of us have the money to sue for the "right to be forgotten" and those drunken party pics on Facebook may come back to haunt us years latter in a job interview etc.
On Steemit we really need to think carefully about what we post, vote up or down and comment on. Not only does it influence the way the algorithms operate, and content rewards but if all content and activities are written to a block-chain and cryptographically secured it introduces a whole new set of elements into the picture.
Blockchains by their nature are going to be very interesting from a legal perspective in the future. They are as near to a perfect record or audit trail as you can get. The information stored on a block chain will very likely be highly admissible in court. Technically they would be considered as non-repudiable or in simpler terms undeniable.
If we make a poor judgment call with a tattoo we may be able to cover it up with clothing or have it surgically removed after extra cost and pain, but supporting highly objectionable material or severe misbehaving on a blockchain social media platform could have far more serious and lasting consequences.
Please, lets keep this in mind when we are tempted to lose our cool, hurl abuse or support highly offensive content.
