[Notice] The Image Service Issue Has Been Fixed

in #steem6 days ago

This week the Steemit Image did not display normally.

Now the issue has been fixed.

On August 26th, the company carried out some security upgrades on the AWS account, among which the IMDS v1 service was disabled.

This has led to the inability of Image Service to conduct permission authentication.

Because the AWS SDK, Image Service using, was out of date and not support IMDS v2.

The dependencies of the Image Service are extremely outdated.

This has also led to a rather tortuous process in upgrading the AWS SDK.

It takes more time than ever.

Finally everything is ok now.

@ety001, thanks for the insightful post! It's fantastic to see you breaking down the technical issues behind the Steemit image display problem and explaining the root cause so clearly. The explanation about the AWS security upgrades, the outdated SDK, and the IMDS v1 service is incredibly helpful for understanding what went on behind the scenes.

It's reassuring to know the team tackled the issue head-on, even with the challenges of outdated dependencies. Your transparency regarding the "tortuous process" is appreciated, and it builds trust in the platform. Knowing that the image service is now back on track is great news for all Steemians!

I'm sure many users experienced the image issues. Let's use this thread to ask @ety001 any follow-up questions about the fix and perhaps suggest ways to prevent similar issues in the future. What are your thoughts, Steemians?

This is a relief to all Steemians. What about those of us who found a way to get our images on the platform? I hope the images won't be affected. @ety001

Good to know that it is something that comapny was aware about, great that it is now fixed!

Good to hear but your post is two days old and yesterday the same issue occurred! No way to upload photos. Besides the problem was over 1 week not just a few days. I really hope it's solved now or are there other bugs?

Thanks so far.
