Does Steem Insurance Assure People To Game The System?
From time to time, a Steemian’s owner key may be compromised. Stolen Account Recovery gives the rightful account owner 30 days to recover their account from the moment the thief changed their owner key. Stolen Account Recovery can only be used on steemit.com if the account owner had previously listed ‘Steemit’ as their account trustee and complied with Steemit’s Terms of Service.
I was wondering with my friend with whom I had recommended he joined steem, what happens if someone steals your key and sends the coins into an exchange to sell them. What is to prevent abuse that results in a net increase in the quantity of replacement Steem. Is anyone here familiar with the mechanics of how this works.
One could imagine a stolen key, with Steem then sent into an exchange that sells for liquid Bitcoin. How can replacement not merge with abuse?
I hope to gain insight from others that are able to provide this information.

Interesting --and relevant--question you brought up here. Still learning the mechanics of all of this so looking forward to the input from more experienced users.
Thanks again for posting!

This is the risk when using money on the internet. On the other hand you are right, 30 days is too much.
Thanks for the reply! I mean it is not a matter of not accessing the coins, more so just what happens to excess coins after a theft does occur.
Agreed, 30 days is too much. On the other hand you do get a couple days to find out if you have powered up.
nice post
