Steem is Something Special
Know that sensation you get when you come across something you know is going to be special? That's Steem.
Steem is an "incentivized, blockchain-based social media platform." Steem is like bitcoin, reddit and medium all rolled into one. It didn't take long for me to realize how great steem will be. Of course there's no proof this notion is true other than what I am currently feeling, and possibly what some of you out there may also be feeling. Steem is a project so powerful and amazing it sets itself apart from other projects.
Steem is picking up steam (pun intended). I only signed up just a few days ago and I'm extremely happy I did. For the sake of transparency I will note; yes I purchased some steem on bittrex, now I'm debating if I should use it to powerup my account here or hang onto it see where the price goes. Either way whatever I decide I'm here to participate and have fun. One thing I'm pretty happy about is the fact that I got my favorite 3 letter user name 'fkn' which brings me back to my fun days spent on AOL instant messenger.
The Steem White Paper is full of juicy details about what to expect and where this project is headed. It's going to be a fun ride everybody so hold onto your hats and enjoy it! Sorry if this post isn't relevant or is duplicated, I'm just happy I finally took the plunge and created my first post!
Welcome! I hope you take the time to share more of your background.
There is on conflict between Powering Up and holding on to your Steem. If you plan to hold for medium to long term (1+ years) then powering up is the best way to preserve and magnify the value of your Steem and your influence. The only down side to powering up is that it limits the rate at which you can sell. For those who are prone to emotionally dump at the low points, powering up can help you stick to your long-term investing strategy.
I like how that concept works. Long term supporters have an incentive to power up. Currently I am leaning toward using my steem to power up.
Since you asked a little bit about me. I've been into bitcoin/cryptocurrency for 2 years now. Obviously started with bitcoin and the two other projects I follow are ethereum and dash. I've been heavily involved in the darkcoin/dash community for 2 years now and that is where most of my focus goes into. I love computers, technology, decentralization, open source. I host a podcast at darq.io - and a new one starting at the end of this month on dashpaymagazine.com - Ill be attending the d10e. Event in July http://www.d10e.org/ - Dash will have a booth there so Ill be volunteering at the booth.
I'm also a full time carpenter and I love to surf. Thanks for the warm welcome.
