Emerging Steem(it) - What does it look like? ELI5.steemCreated with Sketch.

Have you ever wondered if Steem(it) development is still in progress?
What does it look like under the hood?

You can always take a look at GitHub, a place where developers put their changes to the code of Steem (the heart of our platform) and

Steemit.com / https://github.com/steemit/steemit.com
(the website itself), but those are tons of garbage for non-programmers.

" ... typename for classification enum ... check merkle root on checkpointing ... memory mapped file state consistency ... "

Ok. So let’s do some magic to make this information look more appealing.

SteemDream

Magical recipe:

  • Prepare a pot large enough to holdall the ingredients (around 30GB)
  • Grab GitHub memories of what developers did for the steemit.com site
  • Do the same with memories related to Steem itself
  • Put those memories together
  • Stir them gently until you get chronological consistency
  • Condense the memories so that one day would become one second
  • Create a pleasing vision for the beholders.
  • Add some happiness to please their ears

Voilà!

Great work and dedication to quality work on this platform. All for one and one for all! Namaste :)

You put it in a beautiful way! :)

Is March 20th when Steemit was birthed ?

Actually no.
Beginning of a video was created in a way to make smooth beginning for initial flow of data (otherwise it was too rapid for initial commit). So first 3 seconds of a video are artificial, and corresponds to 3 days in real life.
First commit to steem repository was made on "Mar 23, 2016"
That is first time when steem code was added to current public code repository. It was just before its birth, but for sure long after its conception.
Block #1 in our blockchain has:

  "timestamp": "2016-03-24T16:05:00"

Thanks gtg for clarification this make perfect sense.

Great work! Very reassuring! lol...
